Agree. Leafs are looking like they did a couple weeks ago. Winning but definitely could be playing a lot better. Hopefully they get it together here.
Positive note is they continued to get the game tied after going down a couple times. They’re never out of it. - bryant
Yeah, true, but they also gave up a lot of high danger chances last night and the Sens seemed to be getting into the slot with ease compared to before. Gotta get back to that, despite giving up less shots.
I'm wondering if they're just being more patient with the puck instead of firing it from everywhere.

There for the taking, but JT’s head (frank)ed it up again. Who knew JT’s head was so important to this team. MVP material if you ask me. Without that head, Leafs are doomed.
John get’s $1M on his next contract, but his head gets $5.25M.
Time to dust off the Slava Duris helmet for John. It’s in the HHOF isn’t it? |

Matthews and Marner have the best 5v5 goal differential in the playoffs thus far.
The Leafs are up 5-0 during their minutes. |

An elimination game and matthews is pointless.
No surprise
Onto the next game. |

This however…is true, unfortunately.
Do we need to start giving the opposition accolades for shutting him down in those games? Someone else step up, ffs.
Auston’s average shooting % is 15.8. He’s at 6.7% so far this round. Too lazy to look at past playoff SP for him.
Once you get to the playoffs, competition gets pretty good for obvious reasons…especially the defensive aspects of the game. |

If we are all airing our grievances and putting blame on someone, I’m going to go with Domi.
Dumbest, most selfish penalty of the year, and the Sens scoring on the powerplay gave them hope.
Other than the OT goal, he’s been useless this series. |

Sens had an incredible home record in the second half of the season.
Getting the split in Ottawa was fine.
It’s back to Toronto, where the Leafs are 29-13-1 this year (including playoffs), while the Senators are 18-21-4 in away games (including playoffs).

I agree, but poop happens. The 1st lines are often a wash in the playoffs, even the 2nd’s can be. Mitchy only has 4 shots on net in 4 games…are they too predictable again, which plays well into the hands of a good defending team.

Bad penalty, bad PK but that’s not why they lost IMO.
Not cashing on the OT Power play gave the Sens life and momentum and they ran with it.
It is what it is and you are right it’s not the end of the world it’s one game and again as I said last night did anyone really expect a sweep?
I sure didn’t.
Hell I remember last summer many of us in here (me included) were of the opinion this year was likely a bit of a stall as far as how deep they could go due to the cap distribution. We were also all hot and horny knowing JT’s 11 M was done after this year.
Then these glorious bastards go and win the division and all bets are off it’s cup or bust baby!
Lmao

Lots of weirdness today. The Leafs outplayed the Senators completely clearly for the first time in the series. Stolarz was below average yesterday. Lots of credit being given to Sanderson for a floater from the blueline that caught the corner. Stolarz is 6'7. If you can't see, stand the (frank) up, pal. Like yesterday was the first time all series he's had a negative GSAx so I'm not that concerned, but seriously - if the Leafs play like that again they will win.
But I'm not so mad at any one specifically. Matthews hits the post on the empty net - that guy has to learn to BE money because I can't even count the number of times he has had a critical game on his stick (Montreal series in 2021, USA game in FN Cup, last night immediately come to mind) and screwed it up. Step that up.
If I am upset by anything at all it's simply the lack of outrage about what Zub did. I'm sorry but if that was reversed and JT did it to Zub it would be a crime against humanity and the news would be everywhere. Instead it's ignored and was even called a great hit by their captain - and the Athletic in their writeup merely commented that JT was unavailable due to a hit for the 4 minute powerplay.
I harp on it all the time but the media is abysmal and it's largely their fault that Toronto doesn't get a fair shake - because we have no advocates on any broadcast. The NHL is a reactive organization and they make stupid decisions all the time in response to media outrage. It happens TO us, not for us. |

Bad news is small sample sizes skew everything.
By this logic, Fred Andersen is the best playoff goalie right now by the stats.
Think about that for a second when Leafs fans ran him out of town because he "sucked in big games".
Stolarz, comparing his regular season stats to his playoff stats, absolutely fell off a cliff in the playoffs by that logic. He went from .926 SV% to .902 SV%.
Helly is the best goalie in the world right now. Some stupid bounces and bad luck doesn't change that.
Unless, of course, the sports media needs to create a story they can harp on. |

Back when Bergeron and Marchand played like that they were considered heroes. Toronto has the weirdest fans. |
