This was both funny and bang on. Every sport does the retread thing but I feel like the NHL really takes the cake for being absurd about retreads. Guys who have multi-decade long sample sizes of being bad at their jobs are regularly hired in this league

It makes you wonder - how important is it to be familiar with the league when applying for these openings? Like, familiarity with the players on other teams, other coaches, having a track history in the league etc.

Someone mentioned a coach from Europe or a different league and I think that’s an awesome idea. That’s an actual ‘wide net’. Bring in a name I’ve never heard of and make me search him. We either suck and have a shot at the lottery or we hit the coaching jackpot and get to the playoffs/improve dramatically.
