Lol no. Hallander has never been a favorite of mine, but he could still wind up as a bottom 6. Might have even made it by now if he hasn't gone home 2 years ago.

The size is nice, given the age of him and his European birthright he’s probably a wussy though. When was the last time a real Viking came in and took the league by its balls?

BTW, Hallander at 24 broke his team's all-time scoring record. That was set by another 24 year old named Henrik Zetterberg playing there after 2 NHL seasons.

No guarantee of success, but some perspective on how on just how good he was offensively. And that's always been the part that held him back. He's a solid defensive forward with good size.

What year did Zetterberg set the record? I’d imagine Euro hockey isn’t much more than A league in Johnstown PA now days. Although J town A league is probably rougher.

Grinder hasn’t actually rooted for a prospect under the age of 24 since Bobby Farnham.

They haven’t had a guy worth rooting for since Bobby Farnham. Mcgroarty skates like poop and is out of shape, Koiv is alright but could be TK 2.0 who got a shot with Sid right off the bat. I don’t think they have one prospect I would choose to play on a 4th line in the NHL. All a bunch of pussies, before you mention Poulin Tojo he looks about 20 lbs over weight, and doesn’t make up for it in anyway.

Rangers are closing in on a Mike Sullivan deal. Will be interested to see if he talked to anyone else.

I do also wonder what the implications are of their draft pick. I think on one hand, they clearly expect to be more competitive next year, but at the same time, having that 2026 1st round pick would be valuable if they are looking to add at the deadline and so that they avoid a worst case scenario with injuries/etc. Plus, I think the Rangers overestimate how much the coaching was a problem versus the players being the problem. So theres no promise Sully turns them around right away.

they are going to keep this years, no way they don't expect to be better and have a lower draft pick after signing Sully.

Yohe didnt have much to say about the coaching search:

-since Sullivan leaving wasnt a decision they knew about for weeks/months, the organization hadnt laid the ground work for a coaching search
-Dubas doesnt have a "top" target in mind
-The search will be slow since Dubas is managing Canada in the Worlds and he wants to meet with as many candidates in person as possible
-Tocchet is the #1 target of the Flyers, but if the Penguins called him, he would listen. He obviously knows the organization and the older players well and he liked Dubas when they worked together with Canada
-Doesnt think the target will necessarily be a "young" guy
-The older guys still being there will likely play a role in who they bring in. He thinks that lowers the probability its someone with no NHL coaching experience
-Mentioned Drew Bannister as a possibility

Sullivan will likely not like Trochek’s work ethic and physical/pesty attitude. Maybe it could lead to a Karlson Trochek swap straight up. Free up some space for defensive play on the back end and give Malkin a guy to take over center responsibilities.

Sully seemed really frustrated with EK, so you might need to find a more Sully-type player on our roster to make a trade.

Bob Boughner is currently without a coaching position. Coached canadas u-18 program and the Windsor Spitfires to a championship. Could be a good guy to have these “prospects” around.
