I agree 100%. With all of the picks we have, trying to draft guys with all of them make no sense.

trade some of those picks to move up and get the guy you want and/or trade for prospects more NHL ready that teams arent going to sign like Howard from TB.

- SuperHenderson13

I don't see any teams picking ahead of us who need more draft picks. I'd be all for trading up but I just don't see a logical trade partner.

The only thing I know is that I don't like this spot for our pick. I'm all for trading it.

It for sure trade bait for Owen Power.

I'd even be looking to trade it on a hail Mary next season. San Jose has the Dallas pick this year and the Oilers pick next year.

The Oilers are always a McDavid/Drai injury away from being a non playoff team. Plus, I'd enjoy the added motivation of cheering against them all year. While it is protected, I think it's entirely possible they trade their 2027 1st to load up, which removes that protection.

Mrtka is big but not super physical.

You will want Kashawn Aitcheson. He is a destroyer on D. Would be a reach at 11.

I'd be super cool with trading down with Montreal to pick up Mailloux.

#11 and one of our 2nds for #17 & Mailloux. We draft Aitcheson and pair him with Mailloux long term... That would be killer.

Similar with Vancouver and Willander might make sense.

I like your vision. And Brady Martin with the nyr pick as future 3C crushing everyone in sight.

I think the Peg is the team of destiny. Got past some atrocious Helly goaltending and I think they’re gonna turn it up

Bettman took away the all star weekend that the islanders were supposed to host due to the Olympics and a week later they win the 1st overall. Very sus

Trade the pick for something that can help this year.

I'm rooting for them, but I think every other remaining team is better. I wasn't impressed with them in the St Louis series. Great game 7 though.

I completely can't understand all of the outrage over Bennett clipping Stolarz...? He definitely should have got 2 minutes for that but that was barely contact at all. If he gets suspended for that it is a farce.

It seems like some Toronto theatre. Going to the bench and "puking" and then announcing he was taken to the hospital in a stretcher... there was barely contact by Bennett.

I hope I am right, because you never want to see a guy taken to the hospital, but I just don't see what Bennett did as something that would give even a toddler a concussion. Let alone one that would make you puke and go to the hospital in a stretcher.

Torontos a bunch of pussies. Ekblad should get that forearm right into Marners temple and put him in the dark room. Mathew’s and Knies are respectable.

Yeah, weird play. The replay looks like he barely touched him.

I didn't watch the game, did Stolarz take any shots prior to that off the mask? If he already had a slight concussion from something like that, then it would be more understandable that some extra light contact would push him over the edge (that is how concussions often work). Otherwise, it's just very strange.

Yeah, he took a zinger shot from Reinhart earlier in the game. Much more likely that was the initial cause. If Bennett gets suspended, the fix is in for the Leafs.

OK, that makes sense then. I didn't watch the game but seemed to have predicted the real cause better than TML fans.

Given the things they don't suspend guys for, light contact on the goalie when you have the puck yourself should obviously not be an issue.

Don't disagree on your first point. I think Ekblad should put a huge (clean) hit on whoever he can.

Knies should be a legit offer sheet target for us.

That shot hit him square. Knocked off the mask and left him shaking his head. I was surprised he wasn't pulled after it. The Bennet "nudge" just put him over the top. He probably wouldn't have played in the next game even without that hit. He's going to be out a while.

Definitely. We would probably need to get our 2nd back to make it work.

Really? I think $6.7M over 7 years should be plenty, thats just a 1st & 3rd. I think with Knies it is going to come down to whether Toronto keeps Marner or not.

As much as I would do it and go all in on next season, it makes no sense trading this years first if you arent going to make a big run for the playoffs.

Young players that could be moved this summer that I'd target (in no specific order)

1. Owen Power - Buffalo
2. Marco Rossi - Minnesota
3. Simon Nemec - New Jersey
4. Elias Pettersson - Vancouver
5. Matias Maccelli - Utah
6. Connor Bedard - Chicago (kidding)

I have a feeling Drury will do this years pick heading to Pittsburgh. It’s too risky imo for him to have an unprotected 1st rder next year

What would you rather? Known 12th pick, or potentially a better pick

Given what happened this year in VAN, do you really want EP?

Owen should change his name to Max. Such a great Simpsons episode.

The Rangers will most likely be better next season. They'll get a bump from a new coach, plus add a good player or two through FA.

I'd think Drury would bet on himself improving the team and keep the pick, but who knows.

If they were smart they'd keep this pick, and trade next years pick for immediate help that can play next year and help them return to the playoffs.

They'll be better next year for sure barring a catastrophic Igor injury.

Usually that would be a no brainer that you would take the #12 this year. But weak draft this year, plus as small of a chance as it may be a shot at McKenna, I prefer the Rangers pick next year.

If they do give us the pick, what do we do with it?

Both firsts for Power?
Trade both to Utah for the #4?

This will be a pretty interesting draft. After #1 it's anyone's guess where guys go. Teams could pass on Eklund (size) and McQueen (injuries) and one of them could fall to us. Aitcheson should be there, and if he's not, then someone reached and it improves our chance of getting Smith.

Perfect world, we get Jackson Smith and Roger McQueen.

Jesse Marshall said Jackson Smith is essentially Joe Morrow -- not sure I want another one of those.
