Thanks for posting this. The atmosphere seemed great from what I was watching. Are you going Friday as well? - Load Management
Oh yeah, really looking forward to seeing the Canucks win the series, then we will try to get tickets for home games to next round. My brother has seasons tickets so he gets 1st dibs for playoffs.
Friday night is sold out, place is going to be rocking. |

This team needs to pick a direction and run with it, no more of this weakening of 1 position, to strengthen another one. Mind you, it is a great formula for mediocrity. - Nuckerwhatever
Whoa, haven’t seen you in awhile, welcome back….btw hate the Leafs, sorry man, the way it is. |

Speaking of Leafs, I should drop in to say hello.
Enjoy tomorrow nights game, should be fun. |

Washington took chances on PLD and Chychurn who were both labeled as cancers/difficult players. Bought them for cheap and they've been able to turn them around. Not saying it always works, but for the Canucks to hit some homeruns without selling every single thing, they gotta try and find value in those high-end reclamation projects. - NewYorkNuck
Absolutely, I agree - just not with this kid. It's more so about his style of play, highly skilled but can't play in his zone and is the exact opposite of physical/hard to play against. Thats not the kind of player you want in the playoffs.
They need to bring in a couple older guys
I'd take a shot at Granlund or Palmeri in FA (If you cant get Duchene)
And I'd be interested what it would cost to acquire Owen Tippet (PHIL) or Barrett Hayton (UTAH) or JT Compher (DET) |

First two games were enjoyable - Leafs look different this year. They're not getting pushed around like usual - and that Knies kid is a monster, adds something they've been missing for awhile. Nylander has raised his level - he's earning that check.
Wash/TO would be a dinomite semi |

From The Hockey Writers:
An interesting storyline is surfacing out of Vancouver, where it is being reported that Tocchet might have decided months ago that he wasn’t staying with the Canucks. While moving out east has been cited as the main reason he’s leaving, speculation is that a lack of desire to work with Elias Pettersson might also have been a factor. The fact that Tocchet is reportedly open to taking interviews with teams like the Seattle Kraken suggests there is more to the story than just being closer to family. |

They will definitely have to add the 1st when they trade Pouty.
Maybe the Ducks would trade for him. |

Or continue to make smart signings like Sherwood/Forbort - NorthNuck
Sherwood and Forbort were great signings, but that's a middle 6 winger and bottom pair D man option. The Canucks need to add high-end skill and potential... not getting that with those kinds of signings. |

What Brooks said.
As well, Tocchet was in conversation with Rutherford and Allvin after the season about plans for next year. From the Athletic:
Rutherford got a call from Tocchet’s agent on Tuesday morning informing him of the decision. Shortly after, Tocchet personally called Rutherford and explained the decision in further detail. It came as a surprise because, as Rutherford explained, the conversations he had with Tocchet over the last few weeks were forward-looking and gave the impression he would be back next season. Rutherford explained that Tocchet was talking about his plans for checking in on players in the summer (including a trip to Sweden to visit Elias Pettersson), what he wanted to do differently during next fall’s training camp and other topics that suggested he was still bought in on the idea of returning to coach the Canucks.
If he really decided months ago he would have said so earlier. |

He believes Jim Parsons over at The Hockey Writers, who is someone who "eats, sleeps and breathes NHL news and rumors, while also writing features on the Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs". He seems like a truly believable guy because "he’s been a trusted source for six-plus years at The Hockey Writers". |

Canucks are gonna have to take some swings this off-season, take on one or two high-risk/low value players like Washington did with PLD, coupled with a major trade for a top 6 center... so:
DeBrusk - Larkin - Sherwood
Zegras - Petey - Lekker
Joshua - Suter - Garland
DOC - Blueger - Hoglander
Wonder what it would take for Larkin to leave Detroit, at least Chytil + this years 1st.
Zegras would be a good target if the Canucks think they can round out his game. Maybe his skill will work with Petey like Kuzy did.
Right side is very weak still, but that "first" line could be annoying to play against. - NewYorkNuck
Like to see all the assets going out to see how this would work. Plenty of speed & skill but lacking grit come the PO’s. Also the cap implications. |

This. Our organization is a dumpster fire from top to bottom sadly. We just had a Jack Adams coach leave who is aparently interviewing in Seattle and anaheim. If that doesn't say I don't believe this team can win nothing does.
Chytil and the 15th shouldn't even sniff Larkin. - Jkuzzi
Not exactly a stellar coaching record.

The first step in solving a problem is admitting that there is one. Until that comes to pass in Vancouver, they will continue to step over themselves making the same mistakes that we've seen for the past decade. It starts with ownership, until that changes, this franchise is destined to continue to fail. - Pacificgem
Exactly. Identify & admit the problem(s). Yes starts with ownership not that they won’t spend on salaries more that they didn’t spend on infrastructure & mgmt til JR/PA came along & still no practice facility. The farm has been brought to life. On the ice it has not translated into success from the many hurdles & dysfunction from the past & present. |

Yeah his "purely speculative" style streams trustworthiness - who knows maybe a Pulitzer is in this gents future. |

I do think he's a nice player and would be a good 2 c. I have a feeling of he were available tons of teams would want him. Would Willander Chytil and the 15th be enough in a bidding war? I doubt it and I think Stevie Y needs to win now. If they said we'll give you Larkin and we want Petey but with salary retention would you do it? Essentially turn Larkin into the 11.6 player - Jkuzzi
For a soon to be 29yr old 2C that is an overpay imo. That is more than Miller cost or returned in trading him. His NMC doesn’t allow tons of teams to bid on him. |

He's a cancer and is a shell of the player he was projected to be since his broken ankle and torn meniscus - plus he's softer than Danton Heinen eating a snickers bar thats been on the dashboard of your car on a sunny California afternoon in August. Plus his contract is horrific, even if its only for another year.
I'll say it again, I'd aim for signing Duchene (2C), then try to trade for Alex Tuch (1RW) and sign Yanni Gourde as your 3C.
I'd dangle Demko, Lekkermaki, Dak, Hogs, Mynio, & Kudryatsav as trade bait.
Under no circumstance would I trade anymore 1st or 2nds - EVER! - Brooks_Light
All of those could be on the table as for who idk tbh. Need to wait & see what some teams like Buffalo feel is needed to change. |

Like finding the next Miller?
Imo this a year to take a step back from making big trades draining more assets & picks. If a big move is made it has to be for specific long term need. Again this offseason some teams should be looking at a shake up. Buffalo for one & a few others looking to take the next step. Hard to guess on much of anything. |
