Absolutely, I agree - just not with this kid. It's more so about his style of play, highly skilled but can't play in his zone and is the exact opposite of physical/hard to play against. Thats not the kind of player you want in the playoffs.
They need to bring in a couple older guys
I'd take a shot at Granlund or Palmeri in FA (If you cant get Duchene)
And I'd be interested what it would cost to acquire Owen Tippet (PHIL) or Barrett Hayton (UTAH) or JT Compher (DET) - Brooks_Light
I’m ok with Granlund as a stop gap.
Resign Suter? How much! |

Yes, Pouty is uncoachable. - Danny Bomber
 well you convinced me
A lot of solid evidence too - especially in his first 6 years, where he put up 412 points in 407 games.
Currently the most productive player from the 2017 draft class (Makar might pass him at some point) but still crushing guys like Hischier, Thomas, Necas, Suzuki, Heiskanen.
Ranked (1st in goals, 3rd in Assists)
It's gonna be super easy to replace that production. Almost......too easy. |

Like I said my guy is Duchene, he's still a very effective player and is showing no signs of slowing down. But he'll probably be too expensive
I like Suter but he's gone - unless the Nucks could convince him of sub 5mil.
Granlunds gonna be less expensive but still has a lot of upside - just had his 2nd most productive season - as a 33 yr old - thats impressive.
I think you target one of the vet UFA centerman to share big minutes with EP and take some pressure off Chytil and (maybe sign a cheaper guy like Gourde as your 3C and keep rolling with the best of Raty, Karlsson, Sasson, Aman with Mueller in the wings. |

All 5 of those well under 11.6m & all made the PO’s. EP needs a big offseason for himself & let the rest come. He really needs to become a leader & speak out not be an introverted passenger. - Nighthawk
So what? It's a team sport last I checked. Plus, None of those players have ever had a season like EP (breaking 100pts), especially in a contract year. Once Dallas gets eliminated none of them will be left in the POs.
He's needs to have the biggest 5 months of his life and come in dominating.
Players lead in different ways so being an "introverted passenger" means nothing on the ice. I don't give a hot fawk where his fire comes from - as long as he brings it each and every game - which he needs to improve on and will. But in fairness - he does bring it often, yet if he doesn't appear on the score sheet, he's get annihalated by Nuck "fans" - A lot of nights he plays the hardest minutes against other top lines, shuts them down, helps get us a win but puts up 0 points and gets torched as though he's hurting the team. |

15thOA+ for Sabres 9OA?
Ideally be great if McQueen fell to us & take the risk on his back. Need a home run swing. |

Welcome to Vancouver, Hughes Brothers!
Or
Welcome to New Jersey, Quinn! - NewYorkNuck
I was thinking of the 'buy low' strategy and some potential trade candidates that could bounce back next year.
I know many will be against this strategy, because the player had a bad season (thus making them a buy low option), but I wanted to trade for big Tom Wilson last year which was universally panned as well and he's had a great season/playoffs.
Anyways, options I was thinking about.
Chris Kreider or Mika Zibanejad could be in the bargain bin this off-season and potentially have a good bounce-back year.
Could Nashville want a mulligan on the Steve Stamkos deal? I'd take him as a 2C any day.
And just to upset folks on here.
Erik Karlsson with money retained.

You'd want some salary retained given his age and the season he just had.

I think they'll try and target some younger guys to keep their window open a little, but depending on the price Stamkos wouldn't be a bad target. Would add a level of maturity and experience the room needs. Especially if it just meant a pick and a prospect going the other way... but 8 mil is pretty steep. |

Say 1.5m might do it.

Help the PP out & replace Boeser on the left side 1 timer. If Preds retain some. |

Hughes/Hughes for EP/Willander
Jack is injury prone. Get faster still soft.
Luke nod over Willander lose RHD depth.
NJD has EP Hischier as a 1/2 punch at C |
