Allvin had his presser to introduce Foote as the new coach, can watch it on Sportsnet if you're interested. People from Reddit picked up some optimistic notes:
- he was quick to agree with the need for an offensive assistant coach
- Petey getting back to form is the simplest way for the team to be more successful next year
- seems like he knows what makes Petey “tick”
- both allvin and foote did not talk to quinn during the hiring process

Thanks NYN, nice to have toxic positivity from other sources.
On another note, sitting on a 60 year old ferry heading to my brother’s for another baby Canucks playoff series.

Great. So, it will all be on Pouty, he should handle that well. |

Didn't interpret it that way at all - but not surprised you did.
Petey has 5 months to get prepped for the season, a return to form is the expectation.
It should be attainable based on this outlier season vs. the 6 very good, consistent seasons he had to begin his career.
He knows how bad he was this season, he didn't disagree with the criticism from mgmt, fans, and media. It's his chance to prove it to himself first if he can step up and meet the challenge. I don't doubt his motivations but I know you blame it on this "spoiled, problem-child" persona you've labelled on him. |

Tocchet came in and won a Jack Adams, bought himself the value to find a job back east where his family is. He deserves it, all the best for him in Philly (yuck) but in all fairness, he had problems with offensive, generating shots, and most importantly, zone entries - we need some new blood and ideas in the O-zone - I think most trust the D (which is insane - but we've built from the net out and we're currently stronger than we've been in a decade.)
Foote mentioned that 'at the beginning of last season', Tocc said too Foote 'you should think about becoming a HC', and Foote said, 'you're right I should, start teaching me everything you know'. I like that level of respect and I like that Foote has been a part of many different winning environements, from Minor, NHL, international, Olympics.

Could be a deadly top 4 and V good shutdown line. |

As much of a "Debbie-downer" I am on this franchise right now, I like and am excited about the Adam Foote hiring. |

Tocchet had problems? Funny how he won the division when the top end players were performing to their capabilities. Then finished out of the playoffs when they weren't. There's a reason everyone is praying for Petey to get back to an elite level, or be traded so that they can get more elite talent in the lineup. |

You mean when they had insane shooting percentage and save percentage at the start of the year until just before the ASG and then played like they did this season right after? Clearly that's not a one-off. He won the Adams because the Canucks were so bad and suddenly for about 2/3rds of a season they played above their heads and got amazing results when a lot of pundits saw all the flaws and then they all came home to roost? |

His offensive system had tons of problems. It didn't work early on and he failed to adjust it as the season progrgessed. You can't put it all on the players - specifically EP.
He employed a dump and chase model that did not work. After Miller left they started gaining the zone with more control and creative freedom. The team didn't forcheck and create turnovers the way they did the year before and that had a severe effect on shot totals. They also seemed to be looking for the perfect pass too often rather than shooting the fawking puck!! That was by committee.
It'll be interesting to see who they hire as O & Z done coaches/assistants.
Foote said 'he spent his entire career playing heavy minutes typically Vs. other teams top players/lines - and what he learned from those elite offensive guys - he has a ton of system ideas on how they can improve and implement offense. |

.608 points percentage. Pretty much hired as soon as he hit the market. Whether you want to face it or not, the flaw that came home to roost was wearing #40. Not the Coaching. Management has all but confirmed it this offseason. |

Why you guys so hard on this Petey kid, he is only 26 and should be able to bounce back, after what is perceived as a bad season by most of the core.
Injuries and other issues are real that good teams go through. |

Yeah. I had him originally in the top 4.
But then didn’t want to presume Willander makes the team out the gate and liked the pairings of RD and LD
So I twisted alright.

“We’ll be aggressive. We’re certainly not going to be desperate… if we can make a deal and do whatever we need to do to improve our team, we’re going to do it. We’re not going to end up trading all our young guys or all our draft picks, but we’re going to be open to all options to make this team better.”
"Teams are aware that we have depth on defence, Patrik gets calls on them. We would be very careful what defencemen we may trade, if any, we have them prioritized, of course, like all teams do. But that is an area where we could possibly move somebody to improve our forwards.”
“We’d prefer to do it in the free agent market, but how many players are going to be available? Most teams have cap space now, so it’s going to be very competitive. I suggested that it’s probably going to be through the trade market for us to upgrade the team because that’s one thing that we can control.
“We’re going to be in the free agent market if we still have cap space at that time, and do our best to pick up a player or two, but we may get our work done before that if players come along that we think can improve our team and we’ll trade for them.”
Rutherford on how they're gonna shape the team this year... gonna be trades soon! |

Good for Canucks fans that they don't want to trade all the young prospects and all the draft picks.
Does that mean they trade all 2 of the top prospects and the next 3 years worth of 1st and 2nd round picks?
