Ya I respectfully disagree, selling low is never good business. Selling a player of Hughes ability/rarity has also never been the mark of a team doing well. Demko I could handle, especially if they've determined his health is up in the air, but then who takes him? I think you build around what they have. I hope they bring back Suter, we will see! I expect some pretty significant moves - neem55
It really depends on the returns, obviously. You're assuming there isn't a GM out there who believes EP40 just had a lot of crap to deal with, I think there's a few GM's out there who'd absolutely love to get their hands on Elias Pettersson and they'd give up something of consequence to do it.
I agree with you on Quinn Hughes, you just can't replace the possession and transition that kid provides, he has the puck 80% of the time when he's on the ice, or the Canucks do. But you can get multiple amazely great players collectively moving someone like that...therein lays the basis for my thinking. The sum of the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. |

I'd love to see some trades where a 1C or 1D get dealt and the team trading them away win out. Unfortunately, there won't be many examples.

We all are sometimes! They can also trade for the pick. It's whether any player wants to sign a offer sheet with us that really counts.

It starts there, no doubt.
Was it you who mentioned Gabe Vilardi was a RFA? That might be tempting but I think getting another centre or 2 is paramount. |

Semantics, the quickest way to improve for the Canucks organization is via the trade route. It's unlikely, because of ownership, mixed in with some stupidity and stubbornness, but that's how they can get better sooner than later. That's just my opinion.
If I was handling things I'd definitely explore trading all three of Demko, EP40 and to a lesser extent Quinn Hughes.
If they do nothing, this is not a playoff team as it stands. - Pacificgem
Why is it unlikely? Rutherford said a few weeks ago they would have to make a trade to address their C position. Seems pretty cut and dry to me. |

There aren't many teams with franchise centers for sale (0), you just need a good B+ guy, like Mark Scheifele, who's probably more like an A- guy but for the purposes of my examples here I'll use him.
Chytil was an excellent get, if he didn't have concussion issues, his career will ultimately be cut short because of that IMO.
Trading EP40, Huges & Demko should get you a collection of very good players, and if done properly they will have size, skill and speed. What that looks like, I have no idea, but that's the dream...at least of mine. |

Because trading the rights to negotiate with Puis Suter is not going to get you a top 6 centre. They need to trade Pouty to get some value back. Although, just eliminating that horrendous contract and freeing up $11.6 million is probably the best value you can get back for that heartless little twat. |

If you read that again you'd see "unlikely" was in reference to the Canucks trading EP40 or Quinn Hughes. |

So throwing hits is how you win hockey games, not putting the puck in the net. Got it.
I'm sure you're just trolling, but you'd actually have to be a complete fu cking moron to think Sherwood is a better hockey player |

Being a born and raised Canadian, I agree with you just on principle alone. The Canucks need bigger, heavier, faster players to compete for the Cup, and I'm all for making them Canadians. At the end of the day they need talent, wherever that comes from, but they need a culture shift within that dressing room...if I could take my best guess on what goes on in there.
This also holds true for the Flyers, they're a light team, they need to get heavier and quicker. Along with a lot more talented. They have 8 Canadians and 3 guys from Quebec. - Pacificgem
Wow. I remember a beautiful story told to me about a little impressionable boy who lived in the US, who's father one day stated "we are moving back home to Canada". The little boy thought to himself "Home? But we are home". |

The Islanders, Mammoth and Columbus Blue Jackets are three teams that I see having the assets and picks to trade Quinn Hughes to. I could come up with a few trades scenario's, but I'm sure the folks in here wouldn't like it. |

Hey friend, let's trade Pouty and Demko first, see what that brings back and if it convinces Hughes that there is light at the end of this infinite tunnel of fu ckdom. |

I'm good with that. I would trade Pettersson, Garland, Willander and the 15th overall pick to the Islanders for Barzal and Dobson...but I'm not sure the Islanders would?
If they take Schaefer 1st overall now they've got both Willander and Schaefer on defence and Petey and Horvat down the middle. |
