Some are ragging a bit on Matthews for getting shut down by “third line”. That line is Lundell and Luostarainen, (now with Marchand). When Barkov has been out injured, Lundell is the one who takes more of his place in defensive aspects. Maurice can trust that line to play solidly against any line. He switched Barkov’s line to try and control Tavares and Patches, and maybe to get better chances on offense against them than they were generating vs Matthews Marner line.
These games have been very entertaining. The “real” ECF, if I may be so bold.
We’ll see how it shakes out, but I see the winner of this series playing for the Cup.
