How do you suggest finding common ground with someone who rejects fundamental democratic principles and the rule of law? Looking for compromise over different economic policies to achieve prosperity and equality is not the same as discussing whether it’s ok to lock someone up because you don’t like their editorial in a student newspaper.

The other site is just fine. It's peaceful and we don't have name calling and innuendo over there. We can agree or disagree on any topic. And by going over there, it doesn't preclude being able to use both sites to get perspective on hockey. Many who went there are sick of the bullying tactics and flagging people for long suspensions. Pre American Civil War started with a Supreme Court ruling over Dred Scott, in 1857. After that ruling, the North & the South started distancing themselves from one another. Not long after, the North started tariffing the South and blockading trade from the outside World. The North was in recession and needed what the South was selling on the open market. With tariffs, it made cotton and sugarcane more expensive for European markets to buy. The South said enough and Fort Sumter occurred.
