If the Leafs win tomorrow they might as well just give Marner 14 x 8.

They had better. I’ve heard rumblings of a 16x6 offer being considered from the best coast.

Good call. He can play all positions, killing penalties, great playoff performer overall so you don't need to waste money on defense and bottom six.
Worth 18x8 easily.

The funniest thing about the Marner hate is that even if the Leafs win the cup this year, proving that this lineup can win, those same idiots would demand the Leafs move on from him.

If the Leafs could bring back a cup winning lineup, they’d say no.

Leafs don’t even make the playoffs without Mitch.

IMO, win or lose, they will bring him back.

How can you let that caliber of player walk for nothing? It would be gross mismanagement. The offers similar to what I mentioned would come from lots of West coast teams. The Kings, Kraken and Soakers would all love to bring that feller in.

If the Leafs win the Cup I personally would not care what happens next.

IMO.

They already proved they can win with this core.

They just took the defending Cup champs to a game 7. Win or lose they’ve shown that they’re good enough to win a cup.

Their big players have shown they can step up in big moments. Marner won the gold medal for Team Canada. He has a GWG in these playoffs. He’s got 13 pts in 12 gp, and kills penalties. Look how the lines that play against 34/16 are doing. Not great. He’s got 27 hits and 16 blocked shots. No other star player in the playoffs this year is putting up tho kind of numbers Well, except for Matthews.

Marner has just had the best season of his career. He’s carrying them in the playoffs right now. He’s a Selke candidate, got 102 pts this year, rides shotgun with McDavid so Canada could win gold, takes few penalties but kills them better than anyone else.

He isn’t going anywhere unless he wants to. If he doesn’t sign with the Leafs there will be 31 teams calling his agent begging to sign him.

My biggest issue with hockey fans Leafs fans in particular, is that they don’t understand the fundamentals of the game well enough to realize just how special of a player Mitch Marner is. The Leafs have never had a player like him. Gilmour wasn’t killing penalties. Sundin didn’t have 70 assist seasons. So hate me for defending the guy, maybe I just want our best players, legacy players who should go down in Leafs history as the local guy who ended the cup drought in Toronto that’s been going on for 58 years. I’m a purist. I love the game. I spent most of my time on skates under the bright lights of the Callander or Powassan ODR’s. I love watching how the skills are all different between players, and how they evolve over the years. From Sakic to Crosby, to McDavid and Marner. What keeps me interested in the game at this point is following players careers. Right now Celebrini is primed to blow up imo, he’s so good. I wonder what it would take to get him. Would 88 and Cowan get it done?

Marner’s worth every penny. The contract Matthews has is worth every penny. Tavares contract is worth every penny. Nylander we’ll see, but if he gets points like he’s getting in the playoffs it’ll be worth it. Mitch’s 13.5M contract will be worth it. I know it’s scary to some of you, those who aren’t good with math (Marner haters are usually really bad with numbers), but that’s a good deal for both sides.

Go Leafs Go. Go win game 7. May the MVP win the game and shut up all the haters once and for all. Make them realize they’re all hateful pieces of poop because of other poop in their lives, not anything MM16 did to them.

I agree.

I’ll probably start to retire and only watch like 75% games.

I will still watch all games, but will not care about results.
They can even sign some Somali pirates to play in bottom six, I am totally fine with this.

Should be a great hockey between these two.
I hoped Jets will force game seven.
I think West wins it all this year and most likely it will be Dallas.
