Marner to CBJ for Poone Jenner and Severson and a 1st
8 yrs/108m sign and trade,.
$13.5M
Saves CBJ almost $1m/yr on the Cap. Marner gets an extra $8m and extra year of security and can have the biggest contract in the NHL to hide his piss flaps hanging where his balls should be.
Leafs go with:
Knies, Matthews, Mangiapane
Tavares, The Poone, Nylander
McCabe, Tanev
OEL, Severson
I'm in!

Aside from Johnny Gaudreau (RIP), I can't recall a superstar player willingly signing or wanting to go to Columbus.

If they win another Cup they may not be too much motivated anymore.
Also they playing more hockey than any other team for the last 3 years, it should take toll on them physically. - alex.TML
Not so sure about that. With a few tweaks every year at the deadline, this Fla team could contend for the next 5-7 years .
They get it. |

It appears they are moving on from Shanny. As they should - Leafsmart
Well see, they just may be letting him explore it. Doesnt mean they are firing him, but it does add up.
Is there anyone the Leafs should target for the job if he does leave? I was trying to think about it, but not sure.

the leafs should demote Treliving and hire Marc Bergevin as their new GM... that would be epic. |

CJ mentioned yesterday on Overdrive that the Leaf office is overstaffed.
Why, I don't know. Especially if the final decision on anything always comes back to Shanny.
CJ is of the opinion that is something that will change.
Good or bad , I'm not sure what to think. |

Shanny gone. That’s one down.
Nylander next.
The big question is will they talk to Matthews?
Either way Nylander is gone. Dubas tried to trade him but Shanny blocked it. Shanny was the reason Willy is still here. |

So, if Marner goes, does this mean you won't post here anymore?

Boston is 3rd when it comes to hockey but if we are doing a list of the most insufferable pro sports fans Boston may just may be atop the leader board.
I mean Bruins, Patriots, Celtics and Red Sox fans who is worse? - Cush29
I don't live in the states and only follow the Bruins from Boston, so I couldn't really say.
But I have always thought Yankees fans were insufferable.

Except now Nylander has an NMC, so it really doesn't matter who the Prez is.

I dunno. The Isles are going into a rebuild. I'm sure they would be happy with a decade of winning but not winning...who knows, they might just win? |

Matthews needs to wake the F*** up.
Barkov (2nd overall pick)
Eichel (2nd overall pick)
MacKinnon (1st overall pick)
Stamkos (1st overall pick)
Stamkos (1st overall pick)
Schenn (5th overall pick)
Kuznetsov (26th overall pick)
Crosby (1st overall pick)
Crosby (1st overall pick)
Toews (3rd overall pick)
Aside from STL and WSH, typically you win a cup with a top 3 pick Center. LAK did it without one but that was 11 years ago. Even then you had Kopitar.
Maybe Leafs can sign Marner but NOT in their hands.
Maybe Leafs could trade Matthews (who I hate for his lack of heart), seems like a decent guy but man he doesn't give a F about winning a cup. But which center you getting back? I'd take Thomas and Kyrou --- from Toronto and Thomas won a cup under Berube in STL |
