Out of these six I would like to see back Laughton and Jarnkrok only.
They have to spend on bottom six. |

Matthews injury occurred in training camp. He should have sat out 4 months to repair it
Instead he played so he could play in the 4 nations.

Garbage - Fakepartofme
And he played at his best level of play at the 4 nations. Why there, and not in the playoffs? Probably aggravated that injury there.

Marner wants money and nothing can be done about it.
He will test free agency and ends up somewhere, but not with the Leafs.
It is terrible asset management, but there is no other options left.
The Leafs have to spend on bottom 6, can't go with the same guys next season so they will need some extra money left.
Time to move on, enjoy the Summer and wait for next season to start.
Nothing is going to change for me, always will be rooting for the Leafs and watch all 82 games, business as usual. - alex.TML
Except they could sign him and move on from other pieces of the core.
If it’s was up to me these guys are gone.

They can't, they are not controlling his decisions anymore.
Sure, they can offer more than anybody else in free agency, but I doubt they will do it. He is not worth 14+M, nobody is. Willy is not up to his contract either.
These guys will be back, almost sure.

You keep spouting the same garbage.. The same NMC that kept Marner from being traded is the same one that Mathews/Nylander/Reilly have.
The same problem that the Leafs had with the Muskoka 5.. If a player does not want to leave there is not a damn thing they can do. |

That’s…….a lot.
While I agree that letting a 100 point player who plays pk1 walk not a smart move, it’s also the only move. Even if you’re right about Marner vs. Nylander, it’s not realistic that they would keep Marner and trade Nylander.
One is UFA and probably doesn’t want to stay AND wants more money, and the other has an NMC. |

You just made this part up.
Marner said the exact opposite. And he deserves to get paid.
Also they can ask Willy to waive. It’s not that hard.

Yes, I was basically slotting in our signed players with the 3 RFA and JT resigned
Definitely some grit required in bottom 6 |

He sure looks like he wants to leave, but you’re right, like everyone else, I’m making assumptions based on what I see.
You can ask Nylander to waive, and he can say no. That’s how NMC’s work. And if he does waive, it’ll be to the team he chooses and the leafs will bent over on that deal because they have no leverage. |

No to Boeser or Ehlers (too soft)
Other UFA options:
Duchene, Nelson, Bennett, Marchand, Giroux, Granlund, Benn, Suter, Palmeiri, Donato, Roslovic, Mangiapane, Gourde, Frederic, Armia, Bjugstad, Tanev, Kunin, Danforth, Jeannot, Beauvillier, Sturm, Faksa, Kuraly, Cousins - mr.sir
If I had to chose from those players,
Top 6:
Knies, Matthews, Mangiapane
Tavares, Bennett, Nylander
Bottom 6:
Domi, Gourde, Tavev
Lorentz, Laughton, Jeannot
IMO, a thousand times more balls, maybe 20 less primary assists in the top 6 but probably get that back from the upgrades to the bottom 6; so a wash on points.
IMO, that line up doesn't disappear when it matters and that bottom 6 will grind like a muthafuker causing all types of issues.
Get rid of Rielly and add a killer RHD for OEL on the second pairing and this team is a whole bag of balls better. Also allows a little better time management for Tanev as he ages through his contract.
McCabe, Tanev
OEL, ??????
Benoit, Carlo
Myers
Marner can go have fun elsewhere. A team like Vegas or Dallas that have big bodies that don't back down would really let Marner slide into the line up without his delicate piss flaps being too noticeable.

nah
how about
To St. Louis: Mitch Marner (8 x 12M)
To Toronto: Parayko + 2025 1st round pick
also, no way MM signs for 12 - senstroll
Fixed and...
7 x $14 = $98M (which I would be shocked if he got even as a UFA)
8 x $12.5 = $98M on a sign and trade deal.
So get (frank)ed Marner, sign and trade to save face in Toronto. |

Dude, come on. That's worse than last year.
McMann, Holmberg, Robertson, Kampf, Jarnkrok did (frank) all during the playoffs. They're meh players that occasionally contribute points but absolutely nothing else. Holmberg and McMann are part of the reason we lost. Using those two meh bags on the 2nd LW was a joke to 2nd LWers.
Move on from them all. Plenty of great character guys available FA. Jeannot, Gourde, B Tavev can wipe the floor with McMann, Holmberg and Nicky Bobby.
Would much rather
Domi, Gourde, B. Tanev
Lorentz, Laughton, Jeannot |

The Leafs are definitely looking into moving Nylander.
If Marner walks, they get nothing. With Willy they can get a huge piece back.
Nylander, Woll, Robertson for LaCombe and McTavish.

Was it game 5 where his blind, behind the back pass cost the Leafs a goal or game 7 where a blind pass cost the Leafs a goal that wa called back? - Cush29
He gave the puck away TWICE in that game that led to goals.
Take solace in the Bruins extending our idiot GM another 2 years.
Really look forward to him going "off the board" multiple times in the first round.

You could look at it that way OR you could look at it in a totally different way...Marner isn't worth $14M.
So instead of "testing" FA and only ending up with 7 years @ $12.5 (Rantanen money that he still isn't worth) and (frank)ing over the Leafs completely, you make an extra $12.5 on an 8 year sign and trade deal while doing the right thing on the way out the door.
