That seems way more likely. That's a lot to give up for an end-of-the-road goalie and an impact top 9 guy.

But yes there is something you can do. Dont hand out full NMC/NTC to players that have only been in the league for 5 years. Give them a partial.

It does seem like a high price, but its Dubas and Toronto usually pays a little more in trades.
But this was 2nd time Ive heard (first being on Sportsnet) that a deal for the flower was nixed by someone other than dubas.

it was prob 2022 the year he was traded to TB.

TB paid Radish, and Katchuk, and The two firsts..which ended up Oliver Moore and Sacha Boisvert

the Leafs offer does feel high, but in 2022 Knies was just a prospect.

Yes 1 round picks are assets and trading them away for not enough return is bad asset management. I was just responding to a post about Marner walking. There are 94 players with full NMCs, many far less valuable than Marner. NMCs are part of the cost of signing good players. If Leafs want to sign these guys, they’re going to have to include them.
