Why

Benoit has had a very good start for Toronto. But, he is the type of defenseman they've needed for about 20 years. And they finally seem to realize it. I don't see him being moved.

Why would we trade Kreider and jones for him

Well I put two and two together…they are apparently interested in Kreider, and we could use Benoit for the left side…also Toronto could use a PP point man (who we never play)

But yes another terrible idea I had

Go look at Benoits hits in the playoffs this year. Like 3-4 booming checks and he’s pretty good defensively

I think that is a terrible return for those two assets

Oh, it's an absolute overpay. He's turning 27 before next season starts and has 30 points in his career. That doesn't mean he's not the kind of player we could use. But regardless, I still don't feel Toronto would get rid of him at this time.

Idk man. Kreider value isn’t great and jones is meh as we know. I think the cap space alone would be terrific

Not a terrible idea. But, I don't think it's at all a fair trade. Toronto SHOULD do that trade all day long. I wouldn't call it the right move for us, though.

I think Toronto would hang up tbh. Benoit is blooming now. He’s a massive man, and he hits really really hard

But I did read Pagnotta say that Toronto could potentially go after Kreider if they lose Marner…therefore I came up with a deal neither team will like haha

Kreider's value isn't great after his lowest totals in over 5 years. That does not mean he will not ever have better trade value. You don't think that we could make a real deadline score by trading him if he comes to camp healthy and gets back to his usual numbers after a one year dip?
The reports are that he played the entire season with back problems, vertigo and a hand injury. Maybe not individually, either. I have no problem with giving him the benefit of the doubt and time to get back to normal. I think the idea of reducing his 5v5 time has merit, too. But, there's no reason to throw the baby out with the bath water.

I think it’s alot like Trouba, the gains are the cap room as opposed to getting quality players back for him. Everyone knows the divorce is obvious to happen, so that also hurts the return.

I think the issue is the rangers only have about 8 million in cap space and have to resign cuylle, miller, Edstrom and Rempe. How do they create cap space to resign those guys and be able to be players in the offseason market? Cuylle and Miller combined will be close to 8 million. Kreider is the easiest to move with only a 15 team no Trade. Everyone else making big money can block most trades. I just don’t know how they get better or make moves at this point. Cap space is tight

Imagine the pickle they’d be in with Trouba, Goodrow on the books, and Kakko to still sign. Oh and we wouldn’t have a number one center (Miller) and pretty much the deepest right side in the NHL. (frank)ed… we’d be (frank)ed lol

main reason to keep Kreider - If healthy will score 30 goals with a 6.5M cap hit. You wont get that anywhere near that for 6.5M on open market.

I can’t lose Cuylle under any circumstance. Keeping Kreider increases those chances. Unless you trade Panarin. Someone has to go, especially on LW

That what happens when you sign your goalie, as good as he is, to an 11 million per contract. Between Igor and Bread it’s 22 million per and theyre nowhere near cup contenders.

I mean Florida panthers proved you can win with your goalie making 10 million plus. So I don’t buy paying Igor was a bad decision. He is a top 3 goalie in the league in his prime. You don’t walk away from that. Panarin I agree with, would love to find a way to move him

Do you really think they don’t know where Panarin lives. Where all of their pro athletes and celebs live

I do think Jones could be a regular on the right team. A team that needs a PP guy. He’s like a clone of Ghost on the canes if he actually bloomed fully imo, which isn’t bad

He’s blocked by Fox here and idk why he’s still here tbh lol

Cause no one wants him lol. Last year Drury told him and his agent to find a team that wants him for a trade and crickets lol

No one wants Jones. He’s not talented enough to play at his size. Doesn’t fit the defenseman model for today’s game.

I feel like he should’ve been traded awhile ago, they probably held on to him too long

Someone like Toronto who had 5 forwards on their PP could really use Jones. Especially since they’ll likely lose Marner, they might need some cheaper offensive alternatives for it

Toronto is due for a large shakeup too is the thing. I think that’s where Kreider goes, just a hunch

All I heard towards the end of the season was, Rangers need to get younger, faster etc. when exactly and how does that happen cause I don’t see it.?
