Well so much for changing the core. In view of this apparent development , im going to do a 180° and say, there was no point to trading Krieder without trading Zib.
For me, he plays 3rd line center. I dont care how much money he makes, he doesn't play top 6 minutes.

We can speculate all we want and b!tch and moan about what's either happening or not happening, but it's all kind of pointless until we see what the roster will look like on opening night. Until then, it's really just a work in progress. |

I guess it woukd be prudent to wait and see what happens and what the roster looks like.
However, if Zib stays and it seems that's the case, he doesnt play top 6 minutes for me. |

How much trade value do you think Laffy and Key have? Not enough to bring in a high end Top 6 roster player.
Who in this FA market would you say, he is a franchise changing player? |

I don't think there is a franchise changing player in FA - at least not one that we're interested in acquiring (Marner). I do believe that he may offer sheet someone, and will be very active in trades.
We're ALWAYS crying that we don't develop our own players. MAYBE we already have some of the answers in house. Perreault, Cuylle, Othmann need to be given serious minutes to see if they can develop, not 10 minutes a game. Laff may go back to his natural left side and also get power play minutes. He was great in the playoffs 2 years ago, I'm not ready to give up on him.
None of us are in any of the team's meetings and have no idea what route they are planning to take. We're just a bunch of zilches who watch games and complain on here. We just have to be patient and see how it plays out. |

I really don’t believe they will trade Lafreniere
I think him playing his natural wing, under Sullivan getting 1st unit powerplay, that’s the plan.
Is it gonna work? Don’t know. But I predict that’s the plan. |

To me Drury sits him down and goes "here's your shot, you're not a kid anymore, show everyone that 2023-24 was not a flash in the pan"
I really hope Sully can fix everything but honestly, my biggest fear is still how bad housley killed the defense

For sure. They don't want to give up on Laf yet. Now he has the chance to shine in Kreider's spot. No excuse about being held back anymore. |

Something tells me Zib was forced to be a square peg in a round hole in Lavi’s system. It can’t be a coincidence that his two seasons under the last regime were his worst, especially after showing he’s still got juice playing for Sweden.
I’ll call my shot and say Zib has a bounce back year. (Coming from someone who would be totally ok if he were dealt to continue reshaping the core) |

We have a progressing solid second liner in Cuylle while the jury is out with Othmann with me, I hoping he has more because he didnt show much last season. Gabe will get a chance we hope. Hearing the complaints of the Pen fans, Sully wasnt down with playing the kids.
Laffy the jury is still out, he had a career year playing with Bread and Tro, they all had career years, thing is can he even come close to duplicating it.
Like you said we dont know what Drury is planning but so far with all the subtractions and additions the team is weaker IMO. So far we havent acquired any player with all these Cap dump trades that has made the team better. I dont see a Strong FA market with a player, aside from Marner, that will change a Franchise. Gavrikov or Provorov arent players to take this team to another level. They will be over paid.
The offer sheet route will be interesting.
We shall soon see but this team isnt back into contention for at least 3-4 years again.
