Yeah I don't think they're much tougher but the top lines are interesting...
Debrusk Petey Brock are a pretty decent line - those 3 are capable of logging those minutes but EP gotta rebound.
Kane, Chytil, Garland - is actually pretty intriguing, FH is highly skilled and they could keep teams hemmed in with Kane adding a tougher element - similar to what JT brought.
Dak, Karlsson Sherwood is a rough fawking line - if LK can take the leap that might be a tough line to play against.
Hogs, Bluegar, OConnor, Raty, Lekker, Sasson - other than DOC & Lek - those guys play hard in the corners.
I'm assuming MGMT wanna make at least one more move to bring in a scorer, but if they can't they're really relying on LK and Raty to take significant steps forward and really hoping for Dak, Hogs and DOC have better seasons.
I don't mind the Forwards but it'd be fantastic to add another guy and maybe cut ties with Hogs or TB to free up some cap space? - Brooks_Light
P.Suter coming soon

If he stays healthy Demko is worth every penny. Garland worked his ass off and deservedly so got paid. - ScotlandVonRickens
Yes must agree on both points. |

Crazy that amidst the ongoing locker room toxicity and Petey-driven division, three American players happily chose to re-sign in Vancouver - York Newbury
Imo the media & fanbase over hype anything they can. Always best to wait for the dust to settle. |

They waited until July 1, when it was clear Pettersson was staying, and they all signed to play with him. They all know the team picked the right guy |

Hilarious that all the Canucks did was sign their own guys and yet they come away from July 1 having dodged a bunch of bullets and looking better than before |

Its true. Now teams gotta make a trade to get better. Should be interesting. |

I read from maybe Drance the other day that the trade market is a little gummed up right now – teams were all jockeying for FA and not knowing what their roster was. He said through the summer it will become a bit more open and you'll probably see more movement then.
I honestly think they'll still try and land Rossi. Would just help round out those top three lines with a bit more skill.
DeBrusk - Petey - Boes
Kane - Rossi - Chytil
Dak - Blueger - Garland - York Newbury
Running it back, interesting.
Unless the cap collapses again I don't see a bad deal out there, as if Demko is washed with injury it's LTIR.
If Petey returns to form and Chytl can really exceed expectations it could be a great season.
The quality of depth on the backend entering this season vs last year is night and day. 3 of those guys are young and improving.

Theres still a lot of summer left for tinkering - hopefully they find creative ways to find more scoring through trading.
I'm pumped they kept their 1st rounder and Willander is still here - Alvin seems intent on letting him start in Abby - our blueline hasnt looked better in over a decade.
A return to form from Petey, Demko, Hogs and Dak could go a long way.
Full seasons from Chytil, Kane, and younger guys like Raty, Karlsson could really boost secondary scoring.

Not sure about the assets it would take to get Rossi. Alternatively, could flip Joshua and sign suter.
Hoglander-Pettersson-Debrusk
Kane-Chytil-Boeser
Sherwood-Suter-Garland
Do’C-Raty-Karlsson
Lekker-Blueger Sasson |

Probably 2026 1st, Lekker/Mancini/Raty, and a roster player for $$?
Apparently the Canucks still want to sign Suter too...:
"[Dhaliwal] The Canucks called Suter's agent yesterday and told him they still have interest. The door is still open but VAN needs to move money to sign Suter. Suter could sign today or tomorrow. " |

Looking like it's not Suter... but Canucks still looking at C upgrades:
Thomas Drance

#Canucks priority in the wake of the Garland, Boeser + Demko deals is finding a centre upgrade.
Club is looking. Is prepared to shed contracts and clear cap space if the opportunity comes along.
Otherwise in the UFA market Vancouver seems to want to wait a bit and bargain hunt. |

Pukey suter to the blues. Looks like 4 mill per. Probably good the nucks stayed away from at that figure, but in a fairly crappy year he was a bright spot and seemed pretty clutch. |

Ya no hard feelings there.
Seems like we have a log jam with some bottom 6 wingers now.
Joshua, Doc, Karlsson, Mueller, Lekkerimäki
Hopefully we can package one with Silovs to sign a 3c with ceiling.
Joshua, Silovs and a prospect ? |

He was actually really clutch in his time with the team - scored some huge goals in the playoffs last year. He brought a boat load of value on that contract. Gonna miss him - hope he continues to raise his bar. |

I'm looking at Cole Sillinger. He is underperforming and losing position on that club.
CBJ just signed Coyle & Lundestrom (Who would have been a good pickup for the Canucks). They now have these 2 + Monahan, Fantilli and Jenner.
They need goalie help big time with only Elvis, and Jet Greaves.
Silovs, Klimovich, & 2nd and send Forbort and Aman to Abby run and with 22 skaters in Van.

They've been after Rossi, Dvorak, Suter, the list goes on. It's tough out there. I forget which GM said the other day there are 20+ teams all looking for a 2C right now |

He'd be perfect - I've had my eye on Columbus for awhile - they have an abundance of young centermen. Probably be expensive. He has 2C ceiling. |

I don't know how expensive really.
He does have age and draft position on his side, 22 and 12OA.
However CBJ gave him a show me bridge deal, and he really didn't show much, 32 & 33 points. They have so much down the middle but if they want to improve, they need a goalie asap. Not saying that Silovs is the be all end all. But he is developed and shows he can win the big game and he could really push Elvis. With him, the 2nd, and a B prospect, that should be enough. |

I’m not so sure we’re not over valuing our guys that we think we can spare, or unproven prospects. I don’t think we get anything for Joshua, Klimovich, Hoglander etc. Even with the Calder cup under his belt, I don’t think Silovs alone brings much if anything. The stink of his recent NHL games still lingers. Personally I think he’s intriguing and between the 2024 playoffs and this Calder run, I hope they don’t give him away. But to get anything we want, it’s gonna have to include Lekkerimaki & Silovs plus imho. It’s just not like ea sports GMs unfortunately. |

Then you don't trade them. It's really that simple.
Case in point, Rutherford spoke honestly about the potential returns for Boeser and why he wasn't moved. It was deemed irresponsible at the time to not trade him, but he's recently resigned at below market value I dare say.
I know Don probably isn't thrilled, but even he can't hate the deal. Boeser becomes a depth player as the contract ages.
We absolutely need a 2C, as well as Pettersson to return to who he was a year and a half ago. If Petterson doesn't rediscover his game, what happens at 2C matters little. I certainly wouldn't move a bunch of prospects and picks for a 2C.
Those prospects are what has our Dline looking solid moving forward along with some forward help. You build upon that, and hope someone can grab the crown. If the team is good then you add towards the deadline. |
