Just a reminder of the total poop show Briere was running with Torts up until this offseason :

One of the necessary qualities of an AHL coach is great communication, not just with the players and the coaching staff but with the NHL and ECHL teams. The Flyers are in a rebuild and eager to move to the next phase, where they are playing competitive hockey and making a push for a playoff spot. The Rick Tocchet hire signals this team wants to compete, and for Snowden, it’s about being on the same page as the NHL head coach.
“The way we’re going to mesh our systems together. So when players move up, it’s not going to be so much thinking,” Snowden stated when asked about how the prospects will be ready once they jump from the AHL to the NHL. “‘Toch’ and I have a very similar approach on what makes a player very good and what makes a player hard to play against. So for us, it’s about being able to play with people around you,” he continued.
vs Torts

“I think people make a big deal out of different systems,” Tortorella said after a practice session Thursday in Voorhees. “There may be slight details (that are different). You may have different philosophies, a man-on-man defense versus a zone defense. But it isn’t a huge change.”
Tortorella said he wants Laperriere to have his own system, and to have it reflect his philosophy, not the Flyers’.
“You’re not yourself as a coach if you have to use someone else’s system,” he said. “I think that’s a rotten place to be as a coach, trying to be another guy. I don’t think the game is that difficult. … It’s such a reactionary game, and I think the most important thing is to get out of their way half the time as a coach.”

Blame falls on the putz GM and the POHO does it not? - furio16 It falls on everyone, including them, who put using Torts to sell tickets before the franchise.

Anyone who thought or thinks that should be fired. Those 2 are the decision makers are they not?
Imagine making Rick Tocchet the 3rd highest paid coach in the league. |

The frank? Lines should be
Konecny-Zegras-Michkov
Foerster-Coots--Tippett
Cates-Dvorak-Brink
Deslauriers-Abols-Gathaway
Deslauriers can be replaced with anyone really. Just only other winger on the roster atm |

Just remember for everyone who thinks that the senior advisors, Clarke and Holmgren, had nothing to do with the Torts poop show. They were key pushers.
As far as DB and the hockey commentator being in charge, Tort's firing (and he declared he wanted to be fired) was the first time i didn't see DB sit up and beg when Torts called in 2 years but if Torts publicly declares he doesn't want to coach the team and DB obliges, in the end DB did what Torts wanted.
https://www.flyersnation....ach-in-franchise-history/
The other members of the search committee, Clarke and Holmgren leading the charge, believed that Tortorella’s leadership and accountability were “so off the charts that he would be an ideal fit for the Flyers’ situation.” |

Briere flat out said he didn’t want to fire him and planned to bring him back. Torts left him with no choice but to fire him.
Still shocked Torts hasn’t had any comment yet. Thought for sure he would at this point.

I don't think the plan was to re-sign him though. It was gonna be a lame duck season. Briere stats that the goal is to make the playoffs but his actions contradict that. Unless things go right for the fkyers which it never does, they will be a bottom 5 team
Worth noting that one of the benefits Bruere said about Michkov coming over early was hed get to b coached by Torts. This to mevsays they were going to move away from him by the time they were expecting him to come over |

If you guys are planning on ruining Michkov, then you play him with Zegras, if you want him to be a good player, have him with anyone but Zegras.
Zegras is terrible. - Reubenkincade back to back 60pt years 1st and 2nd year in the league - yup thats terrible the guy is a center

I literally posted an article where it factually said they were. There are multiple sources that they were involved in the hiring of Torts, now that was 3+ years ago now but they were instrumental. |

“ Dan Vladar had a somewhat frustrating 2024-25 season for Calgary. He entered the campaign coming off season-ending hip surgery the previous year. It took more than half the season for the Czech goalie to find a groove. Meanwhile, Wolf excelled and went from splitting time with Vladar to becoming the primary starter.
However, by the time the Four Nations Face-Off break rolled around -- Czechia was not a participant -- Vladar felt much more like himself. When he returned to action in Calgary, Vladar finished the season by playing the best hockey of his NHL career to date.
From March 1 to the end of the season, Vladar posted a 2.14 goals against average and .920 save percentage in 393 minutes of game action. He won each of his final four starts, with three coming in must-win situations.” |

Dan Vlader has a sub .90 career save percentage. How one finishes means very little. See one Morgan Frost.
Maybe Vlader helps them win a few more games. What does that accomplish when all is said and done? |

I check in every few days to laugh at the 4-6 comments total on a post that’s been up for 5 days. Then to see someone post how’s it’s been peaceful since the instigators all got banned. Lmmfao. We are this site or what’s left of it anyways.
Where’s bill? I mean mjl. |
