I’m wondering what it would take to get Mason Mctavish ? I have been high on him for a while based on a conversation I had with his junior coach where he said that Mason was the best captain he ever coached in Peterborough. He was very high on his determination and his desire to lead

In what way? We cut loose two excess players, cleared out cap space and gained 2 draft picks

Lets Be honest - Dak was horrible - a shell of the player he was for ONE season. And even that version of him wasn't the big bad power forward that everyone making him out to be.

Promote from within or go FA late summer bargain hunting.

Not sure Roslovic is the answer but I'm assuming his cost is declining considering we're halfway through July and he's still unsigned. He's a big right shot centre with speed, good on the dot, and pretty much replaces Suters productivity.

"His top speed during that postseason was 22.55 mph, with only Martin Necas (23.84 mph) exceeding him on the radar gun among Carolina Hurricanes forwards."

Or maybe they got something bigger up their sleeves??

I think he's due to rebound, and I hate the idea that his physicality is expendable simply because of the Kane acquisition. Should be getting tougher, not just staying the same.

Can't argue his cap hit made things tough, I'll reserve full judgment until I see what is done with the free space.

Personally I think Joshua had 1 good season, and 2 mediocre seasons, I never ever had an issue when I heard he was in the press box. I didn’t see much physicality from him, Garland gave twice as much as Joshua.

Not sure where the Kane comparison came from because I also am not a fan of his inconsistent physicality.

Good move…IMO to free up 3.5million for a limited 4th line player.

Good move. Stay away from Roslovic. Just keep the space or make a move for an actual top 6 forward

The Kane comparison is simply because they are both perceived as "tough" players. I've already seen plenty of people online saying "no one will mess with Petey or Hughes while Kane is on the ice"

Mancini is the only other guy as of yet that could theoretically add toughness to the roster that wasn't there last year, until we see who the Canucks sign or trade for next.

You are finally getting it. Hopefully Hoglander et al, are next.

Joshua to the Leafs, this season just keeps getting worse

He’s a 4th line guy, overpaid, with a skill set easily replaced. Be happy with the cap space.

2nd on the team in hits last year despite missing camp and the first month, 8 points in 13 playoff games the year before, noted as being a leader in the locker room.

Easy to replace

Obviously it's going to be fine if they sign or trade for a quality guy with the cap space they opened

and there’s the comparison, me thinks they will be somewhat equal in their toughness, which really isn’t much.

I really liked his potential in his draft year. Be great to target him.

Size sorely needed 👍🏻

Mixed feelings on him gone. His cap hit gone makes sense & tbh Garland made that line tick & DAK just didn’t mesh with others. Too expensive as a 3rd wheel & opens up competition for a prospect or cap space for a 2C. The latter be my guess.

Kane is also a better PP2 option.

If we don't get a 2nd line centre and a third line centre quickly after losing Miller and Suter, Kane will be a PP1 option which shouldn't be happening at this stage of his career.

Potentially...hopefully!

I have pretty low expectations with Kane tbh.
I'd try him with Petersson and Hoglander to start.

Hoglander– Pettersson – Kane
Debrusk – Chytil – Boeser
O’Connor – Blueger – Garland
Karlsson – Räty – Sherwood
Bains

PP1 Debrusk-Petersson-Boeser
Garland-Hughes

pp2 Hoglander-Chytil-Kane
Hronek-Willander?

The Canucks will be picking in the top 3 next draft if Hoglander is a top 6 winger.
