This morality clause is total BS.
Ovechkin has at times openly supported Putin.
DeAngelo has expressed far right political views.
Kuznetsov was busted for cocaine numerous times, with prostitutes.
Panarin allegedly lured a NYR employee to his hotel room and assaulted her. Quietly settled without charges for a large sum of money.
Lucic beat up his wife.
Guys drink, do drugs, cheat on spouses, hire escorts, and none of that matters.
But something goes to court and they are found not guilty...so let's suspend them for another year? Why didn't that happen to Jake Virtanen then...he went to court for an alleged sexual assult, found not guilty, and then signed a contract without any issues. I hope they sue today. - HockeyBuzzed

The NHL will back down sooner than later on their stance, there's no legal precedent for them to not allow the players to return to the NHL. Much like the general population, the NHL has players who make poor decisions from time to time, we've seen them allow these players to return in the past and I don't foresee that to be any different this time around. |

What morality clause?
Who's morals exactly?
Some chick put on a finger show and begged guys to bang her, couple guys did and then she lied about it to get a payday. Her story was court tested and the judge called BS

Because it’s a woke league. The fear of a national story affecting profits and sponsors. They are full of poop. Can’t wait for the players to sue and go in front of judge and show examples like you gave. They’ll win big. Never have to deal with poopty nhl again. Be ultra rich and go play the game they love overseas. - Stayin alive

Did you really say "its a woke league"?? seriously? The league that eliminated all teams from having game worn pride jerseys (and veterans night, and hockey fights cancer and black history) because a handful of players said wearing a pride jersey was against their religion? The league that terminated the job fair in Tampa because it was trying to recruit more women and veterans as ron desantis said the league was discriminating against straight white men and couldnt have the event in his state? That league?
The reality is that there will be an equation done by every team. Is the players performance going to outweigh any negativity. I will use the steelers as an example. Cedric wilson slapped his girlfriend. He was the #5 receiver. He was cut. Kameron Kelly, terroristic threats and resisting arrest. He was the #6 running back. He was cut. Antonio Brown. List too long to mention including destroying his college coach's office. They knew who they were drafting. They put up with him for 8 years. They could not replace the talent. Once they thought they could, they traded him to the raiders. The question on these 5 players is if any of these players are an improvement on a team's roster? And would they sign for a lower $ amount on a prove it deal? Its about the product on the ice. |

Yes. It is woke. The act of forcing teams to host pride nights was plenty of evidence of that. Once a couple of star players refused and the NHL realized that they couldn't impose this and instead were facing blowback did they quickly stop. Players can do whatever they want in their free time - go to pride events, wear MAGA hats - nobody cares. But you can't force people to support some random cause when performing their job. I can't open a restaurant and force all of my staff to wear MAGA hats. |

Yes I come off as an ass. Are you (frank)ing kidding me? Yeah just the Panarin cover up alone show woke hypocrisy.
But by all means think the league cares. People really are this stupid. Sad (frank)ing group of humans walking the earth |

You clearly don’t understand woke. The mere fact teams were forced to hold ANY event or sponsor back “nights” promoting ANY “social” issue or political issue is woke.
It’s 1 thing to express support for anything but to force it and only give up the force once challenged is woke. The caving into “social” issues is as woke as the ridiculous woke pressures on a business or society. Yes the nhl is woke. All sports are woke. Driven by sponsor dollars.
And once as we currently see the sponsor dollars dry up from woke issues how fast these leagues distance themselves. Hence the hypocrisy.
But by all means think they aren’t woke |

Don't forget the BLM support. Even today the NHL still is running their "Hockey is for Everyone" campaign. They want to encourage diversity and inclusion and make sure it's a safe space for all players and fans. Sounds inspirational. But it's mostly lecturing white men on how awful they are. This is what pro sports, music, movies, and big business has become, although seems to be unwinding a little now.

I think "baaaaaahhh" pretty much covers it. Yes, poor straight white men, always getting the short end of the stick. If only there was a league where they represented the majority of the players and decision makers.

The players always had a choice. And yet again by bettman making the decision about eliminating all worn jerseys like the pride jerseys, now they no longer raise money for at risk LGBT youth groups, no $$ for hockey fights cancer and no veterans night for suicide prevention. yes, a total win for all those non profits. If they didnt want to wear a jersey, dont. if you dont want to bid on one of those jerseys, dont. remember that each of these things is collectively bargained.
