They already have the guy, Bozak. Kessel's game improved massively once he started playing with him. And soon he'll be upgraded to Kadri, who the Leafs have made it very clear will be Kessel's center down the road.

Your pinning your hopes on a guy that has played a bunch of meaningless games at the end of the season, went undrafted and played college hockey and you call this years 2010 2nd pick overall a crap shoot.....

As far as Kadri goes, what are your expectations.. since you have already suggested both Sequin and Hall will not amount to much, and they are ahead of Kadri... can't wait for this spin...

no, I said both will be good players, just not better than Kessel. I don't expect Kadri to be better than Kessel either.

as for bozak, it's not like any undrafted players have ever turned into anything big. We need more top-5 draft picks like St. Louis, Gretzky, Belfour, etc.

I don't think you understand, Hall in his PRIME will be a 40 goal guy... Kessel in his prime will be a 50 goal guy, while being more well rounded.

Hall will very likely be a good player. Kessel will better. Depending on where the Leafs finish next year we can start to determine if Boston has a chance at evening it all up.

When all is said and done though, Boston gave up their best chance at a cup in a long while with this deal.

Glucky, I like you but re-read this paragraph man. there's so much conjecture and speculation in it it's not even funny.

Are you saying it mainly just to piss this guy off?

So individuallly you don't see any of those 3 picks being better then Kessel, how about collectively.... you are a marketing student.. Sell me on how three very good players will not allow Boston to be better off then Toronto with their 30/60 player.

Yes, not all players are drafted and I am sure that without spinning it, you would agree that Gretzky was a highly touted player that likely would have been a 1st rounder in the NHL if it were not for the WHA and Skalbania circumventing the NHL draft by signing him as an amateur... nice try though.. St Louis wasn't bi-passed because of a lack of talent as much size.. so again no comparison to Bozak, while Belfour was a drunken goalie and teams didn't want to coff up the case of 40's whiskey signing bonus.

If you want to see a good robbery, look no further than Gomez for young players and picks.

Because young players and prospects are supposed to help out in the present right?

Lets be honest though, only one of the guys was truly young (McDonagh), and he's not exactly a top prospect at this point. I'd still rather have him (or anyone) over Gomez, but still.

Doesn't matter. A trade for Gomez and his contract should have included assets coming to the Habs, not the other way around. They took on a liability. they should get compensated for that. There should have been a very good pick coming to the Habs. Not a bunch of young players going out.

Would you trade for Finger without Toronto including a pick along with him? No. Gomez is overpaid by a larger amount than Finger is.

I think McDonagh was off the Habs radar while Higgins was traded to the Flames. I can't even remember the 3rd guy.

So since Gomez and Kessel had the same amount of points, should Toronto not have recieved some extra compensation rather than giving away the farm to take on Kessels huge contract and bailing Boston out of a Cap issue.

The point being, is that all the leaf fans here in this thread seem to be totaly convinced that the Penguins will have an easy time with the Senators, and will probably sweep them, or get rid of them in five games in the least.

The Senators only had THREE fewer wins than the Penguins, during the season, The Penguins had a .616 point percentage, while the Senators had a .573 points percentage.

There is less than a half a goal per game difference between the two teams, with the Penguins holding that slight edge, BUT the Senators hold the advantage over the Penguins, in allowing fewer goals against per game.

Ottawa's PK is ranked higher than Pittsburgh's, and the Penguins have a .3% edge on the PP.

These two teams are a lot closer than you may want to believe, and a sweep is not a likely as you may wish it to be.

Other than your deepest desired wishes............on what else do some of you leaf fans see the possibility of a sweep???

Part of me was terrified as Pittsburgh was pushing for a tie because I so desperately wanted a Senator victory. But an unhealthy percentage of my anxiety came from me almost as desperately wanting to make this post...

I didn't actually watch the game, so I'm just going to assume that the refs took pity on the sens and won the game for them.

Oh, and I have absolutely no problem taking my licks, I posted in the "ottawa measures up well" thread right after the game ended
