Bill Meltzer: NHL Statement on Stars' COVID Situation

Wow, that does not sound good. I think it is going to be a miracle to get this season in the books. For all concerned I just hope the right decisions are being made by the NHL as players health is top priority. I thought my life was going to return to normal with hockey again and now I am very concerned.

Now it’s six team members. The NHL has a long road ahead just like other Professional sports.

Not surprising after seeing the other leagues start up.

Right now the NHL says they plan to reschedule any games missed but I wonder at how many games can be missed before that’s feasible. Call it harsh but I think that if a team can’t play due to covid then the game should be forfeited and marked down as a loss. Not only would this prevent the possibility to have to seed teams on points percentage if say a team is short 10 games but it would cause the players to be more diligent away from the rink.

I'm not disagreeing but the it's not just on the NHL. The players and NHLPA are also very involved. They wanted to do this and they have to take precautions away from the rink. I'm not blaming them. I'm just saying it's on everyone.
