Demelo is a good defenseman. He’s not great but good. I think of him as being a bottom pairing defenseman on a really good team. |

I don't agree. DeMelo was a terrible this past season. He did show improvements throughout the season, but I have him as a 6/7 on any team in this league, not just a contender. Combine that with his contract and Appleton was far and away the easy pick. Now with Appleton, Raslovic, and Laine all out, the Jets need to address their RW shortage.
Still better than that time Chevy gave up the Nick Suzuki pick to protect Enstrom for his final and lackluster year. Vegas made out like thieves in that draft.
And yes Rexy (when you see this), I was just dumping on both Demelo and Enstrom. This is the perfect storm. haha.

EDM has traded for Keith 38 years old and paying a big price to do it
EDM has resigned 39 year old Mike Smith
EDM is going to give Zack Hyman a 7-8 year deal, he’s 29, at the same $ as RNH……
I hope the Jets don’t copy EDM |

Hopefully this means they are quietly signing Hamilton and are waiting for him to arrive in Winnipeg before they have a press conference. |

Don’t forget that Suzuki was the key piece in the Max Pacioretty deal. |

We did not trade away Selanne, it was the Pheonix group that did! The team was owned by them at that point. |

I didn't forget it. Vegas swapped 1st's with the Jets to protect Enstrom. They kept Enstrom and drafted Vesalainen, lost Thorburn and Suzuki. No matter how you look at it the Jets lost. Pacioretty is no slouch either. He's been 1ppg over the past 2 seasons and led the stacked knights in scoring. That is why I said Chevy really dropped the ball on that expansion draft. He protected a stay at home D who who left for Europe the following season. When you look at all the seasons the Jets have been desperate for a 2C, and you see that Suzuki was selected with their pick, it is painful. |

100% right. Teemu and all of the Peg had a fantastic relationship, and Teemu was never in any trade considerations. What a team they had in 95-96. Surprised they couldn't get more done in playoffs.

That trade made sense at the time. Dano had promise yet, and Enstrom was the best pure shutdown defenceman in the league in 17-18. We were right in our Cup window.
Who could’ve predicted Maurice would fracture the locker room and chase our longest serving player out of town, while giving Vesalainen (considered a steal that late) absolutely none of the opportunities Suzuki has received thus far. |

Was there any guarantee the Jets would have selected Suzuki with their pick had they retained that position in the draft?

Wait what Enstrom in 43 games in last somewhat underwhelming season was the best in the league at anything? I remember in the playoffs when he couldn’t handle the physicality. Pedestrian year and no other team in the NHL showed any interest.
Can’t believe I got hooked again by this lol. Dano I’ll let go of

His advanced stats do not agree with this. |

The Jets just missed the playoffs for the second year in a row and were drafting 13th, that's not a cup window, that's a sell everyone over the age of 30 and keep building team. |

This is 100% true. If Enstrom was taken, it would have cleared some cap space to add another impact player on the team during free agency that year. |

Rumours are swirling that Derek Forbort is about to be extended. Awww yea, Chevy is bringing this D group back for another go around next year! |
