Lucius is a high-octane offensive player with exceptional problem-solving skills. A threat with the puck anywhere in the offensive zone, EPRinkside.com 2021
Lucius combines crafty hands with a quick release on his shot to make for a goal-scoring weapon,
From Elite Prospects. 6.0 172 lbs, another site had him at 6.01 185
Can’t go wrong with a skilled C that admires Mark Scheifle. Good pick! |

Kind of quiet in here today. Marc Bergevin kind of ruined the draft last night. What an idiotic stupid pick.
We pick in 18 picks - wonder who it will be today. Good night, draft wise, for Jets last night.

Montreal took the air out of the draft and then Stan Bowman and the Blackhawks makes a selection with 8 women behind him as he shows how progressive the Hawks are while he ”no comments” on hideous sexual assault allegations and lawsuits…..
You could see Bettman was seething and agree it was a horrible ending to an entertaining draft.
As for today I think the Jets to D-man all the way and I predict a trade |

Looking more and more likely that we are bringing back the same D next year. |

Super excited for Chibrikov. I have a feeling he is going to be the steal of the draft! |

Weak defensively but that should improve with time. Other than that he is an offensive dynamo and was ranked as mid to late first round by about 15 analysts. Yes, I'm not big on Russian players but he could be a steal if he can improve his defensive game.
Stankoven came close to falling into our laps. I suppose if Chevy really wanted him he would have traded up a few picks at very little cost. |
|
|
|
I see Bob McKenzie had Chibrikov rated at 24 in his final rankings, seems like a pretty good value pick unless he turns into Telegin #2 and never sees North America. |
|

|
Sam Cosentino final mock:
27. Carolina Hurricanes: Nikita Chibrikov, RW, St. Petersburg (KHL): Could develop into the Russian version of Sebastian Aho. |

I like the Dmitry Kuzmin pick. Him along with Chibrikov are going to be great Jets.
A major similarity among the past few cup champs is that they all had Russians play a major role in their victories. Tampa Bay having Kucherov, Sergachev and Vasilevsky; St. Louis having Tarasenko and Barbeshev; Washington having Kuznetsov, Ovechkin, Orlov and Samsonov; Pittsburgh having Malkin; and LA having Voynov. Seems like a trend, especially in the last 10 years has been established. |

I'm going to call Kuzemin a bad gamble. His size will be a key constraint to hi ever making the NHL. Some offensive abilities but lots of liabilities as well. A big gamble The Jets could have done better than this.
First and second picks were top-notch straight A material . I rank this pick as a D

It takes an innovative team to break the trend "Big D"! |

I thought Big D guy was suppose to stop talking about Big D until next years cup final. But I guess he just can't stop talking about big D.

That’s fair lol but when we draft a D that has to look up to see Toby Enstrom’s eyes I snap 🤪
Listen I wanted Logan Stankhoven (5’8”) I don’t discriminate 💪🏻 |

My favourite Jet 1.0 is Teppo Numminem so not exactly a monster out there.
Just know what we are lacking. |

Not sure why they drag these things out.
Like even a team that has all night to decide who they want to drat, take their allotted time to make their first pick. And it goes on! Crazy!

I think our first 2 picks are fantastic and wait on the rest
Trade for Dillon and/or land Savard and I’ll be ok til training camp
What was the trade going to be ? Can you tell us now? |

That Rashevsky pick is also intriguing. Looked like Jets spent lots of time scouting in Russia this past year.
Rashevsky is also 20 years old. Could be NHL ready sooner than some other kids. |

Yea scouting report for kid says "motor never stops."
We need more like that. Right away makes me like the pick. Actually good with picks 1, 2, and 5 - number three not so much. Last thing we need is a smaller, LH shooting d-man. But obviously scouts see something - maybe another Dahlin, Hughes, etc?
Every team can use those type of players - even our Jets.
