I would have rather had Hamilton over Schmidt and Dillon. Hamilton is a legitimate #1 defenseman. Both Dillon and Schmidt are 30 and both shoot left. My biggest fear is that now Samberg and Heinola do not get into the line-up at all for at least 3 years.
I think one of or at least 2 of Stanley, Samberg and Heinola will need to be traded, especially while all three have high values. |

I believe they expect Hamilton to sign for something like seven years - $9 million. If so, I want no part of that. Then we would be making major trades to accompany Hamilton.
Hamilton is big, yes, provides offense no doubt, but doesn't have the sandpaper that we need. Let someone else overpay, as per Jack Eichel.
Much rather have Dillon and Schmidt if that's the case (the contract). If youngsters like Heinola and Samberg prove themselves on the AHL level, the Jets will find a way to get them into the line-up.
Dillon and Schmidt don't have a NMC, so IF the kids are ready, the vets can be moved.

When Schmidt’s contract ends he will be 35. Dougie Hamilton is 28 right now and if he were signed to the max at 7 years. His contract too would have ended when he is 35.
Hamilton can hit hard too, I am unsure if you have ever watched him play. |

Actually I watch a lot of Hurricanes games, maybe the Hurricanes, Leafs, the Lightning and the Panthers more than anyone else except the Jets. But it would take a silly, negative person to think that I haven't seen Hamilton play. Hopefully you're not that person?
Of course Hamilton can hit, but I wouldn't call him a feared physical presence.
If Chevy signed Hamilton, you would want Makar. If he signed Makar, you would want Jones, etc. It's all anti-Chevy!
Actually I don't think the Jets do diddly today. Maybe I'll be surprised?

Someone is in a snarly mood today!
The most negative comments I hear on this board are always against how bad of a city Winnipeg is. You have never heard me say this place is terrible. |

I agree, don't believe you have ever issued a negative comment about "The Peg." Good!

If I were Chevy I'd just let things play out for a few days while other GM's scramble to get something done. There are a bunch of teams with lots of cap space that are getting shut out here....especially on defense. Chevy now has a few spare assets and can just play the pike in the weeds game. I like our position. |

I'd be happy to take Perreault and Lewis back if the cap hit was cheap enough. Both as 4th line depth

Agree…. Now VCR just added Luke Schenn ?
They may want turn attention to Hughes and Pettersson |

Good signing for Poolman. Its a shame that Stanley, Heinola and Samberg Jet development will continue Ito be delayed for yet another year. If they still spend 70% of the game chasing the puck in their own zone with this defense then it definitely will be time to say goodbye to Maurice. |
