Best blog you've written, Hank. Agreed on all counts. I buy my tickets game by game next year. It won't be hard to buy a seat for any game, as Bruin, Leaf, and Ranger fans well know. |

The rangers had 6 goals on 7 shots…..
That’s something. |

“
Or, at least, it would be unacceptable for most any other franchise that actually cares whether their team makes the playoffs. Is there any indication that management or ownership actually cares if this team makes the playoffs ever again? Even the most casual observer knew before the season that the goaltending and defense on this team was woefully thin, and management was seemingly content to allow their young, talented forwards to run headlong into a woodchipper every night.”
Amen. |

Waits for the KA supporters to come defending “would would you have wanted him to do”
“This team sucked two years ago, how fast do you want to go”

Kasperi Kapanen and Jakub Vrana giving the Blues a nice head start on their re-tool/rebuild.
Top 9 forwards who are scoring and cost them a combined 7th rounder and an AHL player.
Who wants to bet the Blues win a playoff series again before the pathetic Sabres? |

This team is a microcosm of its leadership. Completely disappears when it matters. They've made a career of it. |

This time last year I posted that the Sens and Wings were ahead of the Sabres in their rebuild and would finish higher in the standings in 2023. I was met with much vitriol. So far I have not been proven right…but there are still 13 (14 for Detroit) games to go so let’s see |

Kinda a moot point. They will all not make the playoffs |

Blog is spot on.
Comrie was a cheap stab at a #1 goalie wildcard and failed miserably. UPL sucked in EHL, sucked in the AHL so why would he be good in the NHL?
KA could have given the roster a mental boost by trading for a meaningful player. Greenway and Stillman are below replacement level players and are honestly just a waste of a 2nd, 5th and 6th round pick. Status quo was not acceptable....KA chose status quo.
The organization seems stacked with forward prospects, but trading for a solid dman and/or a goalie would have literally blocked nobody in the next few years. The organization is devoid of defenseman and goalies. Levi I pray is the real deal, but he's 2 years + away - think of how long it took Miller to make it to the Sabres.
At least the Sabres aren't raising ticket prices next year at the dump called Keybank Arena or whatever they call it.....oh wait..... |

Replace Olofsson with a bonafide middle 6 forward.
Obtain a top 4 d-man
Trade for a #1 goalie.
It’s playoff or bust next year. |

Here's what we'll get from your wish list:
1.) Kulich
2.) Johnson
3.) UPL
4.) Probably not |

Detroit and Ottawa pushed their chips into the middle of the table this offseason while the Sabres folded waiting for a better hand.
With the progression of the young talent on this team, the Sabres are going into this offseason with a much better hand. We’re about to find out how good of a poker player Adams is. |

Fun watching Timo stand in front of the net and battle for pucks in the corner that lead to goals. |

I really want to be optimistic but these last couple of weeks have sucked the positive vibes I had about the Sabs out of me. |

Just because it didn't work for those teams right now doesn't mean they haven't helped there future. Detroit dealt with a lot of injuries this year. |

If the Sabres did the same thing this offseason that they did last offseason, which is nibble around the edges trying to buy from the clearance section, wouldn't next season still be playoffs or bust? |

1.) Kulich
2.) Johnson
3.) UPL
4.) Probably not - Hank Balling
I wouldn’t be surprised if one of Kulich/Savoie made the team next year. Most likely Savoie due to draft pedigree and inability to play in the AHL.
I could see a Johnson-Lybushkin third pair faring well as soon as next year, but I’m hoping they hedge that.
UPL should be used as a trade chip to acquire a 1A while Levi gets acclimated.
Playoffs were attainable this year with the youngest roster in the league, don’t see why they can’t be next year if management pushes some of their chips to the table.
The future is now. |
