I'm not quite sure I follow regarding Dumba. Why would a team trade for his rights if they can simply sign him without any compensation when FA starts. If he is going to hand-pick where he goes and the team wants him too, they can simply wait a couple extra weeks.

On a separate note, the statement about just making the playoffs not being enough was interesting to me. Obviously, as a fan you crave more than that. Looking at the whole situation, they are basically going to need 2-3 rookies or at least guys on ELC type deals to punch way over their weight. Stranger things have happened, but I would say that being a competitive team and making the playoffs is a darn fine accomplishment considering the cap constraint they need to deal with. It's not going to make sense to give up draft assets at the deadline because you will need those players to play in the relative short term, no?

Trade for picks and start rebuilding. No chance of a Cup run when you have to pay $15M per season to 2 players who have been bought out. Sacrifice the next 2-3 years to rebuild. PLEASE 🙏

Doing a complete teardown of a team and going through the "rebuild" that everyone suggests does not guarantee a good team. Yes, the next 2 years are going to be thin for what the Wild can get to improve the team. And you DON'T trade away a player of Kaprizov's talent, you just don't. Now yes, would I like to see Zuccarello and Spurgeon traded to open up a little more cap space. But I don't see that happening.
