So you mentioned Colorado, Vancouver, as well as Dallas and Vegas.
Did you realize Edmonton is still playing? Take away the first month and they have the best record in the NHL. The two best teams in the West are Edmonton and Colorado. Nobody else is close. |

So Vegas just skates right past Colorado as if they are nothing? I don’t think so. Vegas is still playing. The other teams are waiting on them or Dallas so they can start round 2. Vegas is having trouble with Dallas. Neither team are strong enough to win the cup. I doubt either team makes it out of the 2nd round. |

Slow start but showed that Canadian heart baby! Those US teams play together for years leading up to this tournament, team chemistry already built. Makes this miraculous comeback that much more spectacular. Nice to see Team Canada being built the proper way again. Big, tough and bulldozer hockey.

I have a very difficult time seeing how Vancouver gets past Edmonton, even with Demko. They were in a dogfight with Nashville that Nashville had several chances to win and Silovs didn't play badly at all. I guess maybe they could take a game early and get in Edmonton's head or Skinner could hit a bad spurt but they have a very tall task ahead in my mind.
As for Dallas, they seem to be the darling of the hockey intelligentsia and have been for most of the season. On the 32 Thoughts pod this morning Friedman said in his strongest and most declarative voice, 'Colorado will not do to Dallas what they did to Winnipeg, they'll have a much more difficult time getting through the Dallas blue line.' I'm old enough to remember hearing that Winnipeg had the best defensive team in the league. And to have watched the Avs put 5 or more goals on Dallas three times this season, even scoring 4 in their one loss to them. But I'm open to the idea that I look at the world through burgundy and blue glasses. I guess we'll see. |

I look at the world through bourbon and a Glencairn glass. I don’t see Dallas faring well playing 5 defensemen. Four years ago, MacKinnon and Co were blowing by Ryan Suter on the Wild blue line. Yikes. They better have a fierce back check.

To me Colorado and Edmonton are on a collision course and that series may ultimately determine the Cup champion. Pretty laughable to consider Vegas or Vancouver in that discussion. Dallas plays a sound game, but I still feel lack of scoring is what leads to their undoing. Colorado and Edmonton have so many gamebreakers, whereas Dallas score by committee. To label Dallas and Vegas as the two best teams in the West almost suggests someone hasn't watched the West all year. NYR-CAR is probably a close series. Florida should easily handle Boston.
