Hey Trevor! You think Schwindt was payback for Pachal?
I like Morton better than Schwindt anyways. Schwindt was a good depth option to come up in case of injury but just on the cusp of being a shoe in full time NHLer.
Wish him well anyways.
Maybe Pelts can get his game back with the Wranglers. Must be pretty humbling for him to clearing waivers. Perhaps other teams would rather trade for him as opposed to plucking him off on waivers. Wonder if a Reichel(Chicago) for Pelts might make sense for teams & players needing a change of scenery.

Hadn't thought of that! Very possible. Reichel is a Flames killer, so it stands to reason that he might click in Calgary. In any case, the team needs more speed. Calgary would need to add or maybe offer one of their promising young AHL defencemen instead. Pelts apparently doesn't have much value.

Was listening to the Huska interview on the Fan this morning... he never said it directly but it sure sounded like they felt Pelts never put in the work to strengthen that shoulder this summer.
100% the right move to waive him and get him some gym time while playing in the AHL. Keeping him up and demoting someone who put in the work (Honzek. Klapka) would have been dangerously hypocritical!

Some comments from last week that never aged very well!!!

''There's really no chance that Honzek makes the team''
''It would be idiotic to try and send Pelletier down''

It's promising that Vegas is taking guys that are far down on the Flames depth chart to play on their full-time roster.

Promising for that first-round pick of theirs we got for Hanafin.

I really don't understand why they are holding on to Hanley. Seems like they have a plethora of guys to call up if need be.

@Trevor Imama would have been a perfect pickup for this season.

Might depend on how satisfied the Stars are with Brendan Smith.

Who would be Hunkelese for 200 Alex!

Looks like all that chatter from Hunk yesterday was just more verbal diarrhea, trying to explain how Conroy shouldn’t put Pelts on waivers and what a stupid move it was.
Losing Schwindt is no big lose imo. Flames will be signing Lipinski now to filll that hole. I see Lipinski as a better option, with more upside and he’s only 19. Him and Honzek will eventually get a chance to play together.

I’m still waiting for that explanation as to how Conroy blew it by not signing Giodarno. Could you imagine if the Flames had to protect Gio over Hanley?

Good catch!

I am really impressed with how Conroy has been able to assess talent that is buried in other teams talent pools.

They just need 2-3 years of top five picks to get the really high end talent. I don’t see this team as being bad enough to finish bottom five though.
