I just don't see how this roster will be successful without major defensive upgrades. They need at least two more top 4 dmen. There's just too many individual failures by the dmen to have a playoff team without great forwards and goaltending to compensate.

I can’t argue that. I wish ASP was playing in GR to see how he handles North American ice.

Time to fire Lalonde and if Yzerman won’t do it. Then it’s time to fire him. This team is a joke. Gustafson is not an nhl player in any sense of the imagination he really isn’t even an Ahl player.

I figured before the season started the Red Wings wouldn't make the playoffs, but now are looking like a lottery team.

Jeremy, man your faith astounds me. Good for you buddy. But, your frustration is like the long petticoat that’s shows and you can’t hide.
This team and coaching staff is not even worthy of a comment.

A new coach is not going to turn this team around. You would probably need the Wings to perform at a .650 winning clip for the rest of the season to get 96 pts.!!!
Time to blow it up and get a top 5 pick next summer.

I should clarify. This team quickly faded and without a shift is going to give more oof the same. In “not taking for granted”, it’s more in what can happen. Back to the shutdown, it felt like an impossibility that things just stopped. As bad as things are we’ve seen sports and markets lose access. You wake up and boom there’s a carrier disagreement. The landscape continues to change rapidly. It’s more a gratitude that we can even watch a bad game. A couple months ago one of my favorite apps just disappeared. It was part of a Time Warner business deal that came out of nowhere.

We still get the opportunity to watch even if the result is frustrating. That is the gratitude portion.

This team is absolutely going to succeed this year. At gaining another high draft pick.

Washington went from a team looking like they were done but with some smart moves by there Gm and a coach that knows something about coaching they look like a new team. Rebuilds that go on forever is just poor management. Detroit can soon be the new Buffalo. Fire this coach Yzerman do something.

I think it’s safe to say that Washington had far more to work with than what Detroit does. Ovi had a horrible start last year but is up and running, and for sure they brought in pieces and made changes. I do think Detroit would benefit greatly from a big change (multiple changes) but it would be difficult to replicate what Washington has. Seeing Ovechkin within 28 goals of Gretzky is incredible. Incredible career.

I do hope the phones are ringing but haven’t seen or heard anything to suggest that the team is motivated to make a big move. I hope I’m wrong

I disagree with you. Last year Detroit had a much better team than Washington up and down the rooster , it was the moves that the GM did over the summer that vastly improved that team.
