Alright Ducks... you guys badly need a RH PP QB...
Karlsson, Jarry & McGroaty for Gibson, Killorn & Gudas. Dollars even out and Karlsson gets to go to Anaheim to be the man. - MacPatty
I wouldn't pull the plug on McGroarty yet, certainly not to fix the current team who are beyond saving ... unless guys like McGroarty come up and give them a bigger than expected push. It is concerning though that he's still floundering at the AHL. |

Looking at previous drafts Pittsburgh has not done very well haha. In the last 10 years I’d say the most successful drafted players to play in Pittsburgh have been sprong, lafferty, and Simon. I wouldn’t expect much out of a pens 4th round pick. - 10inchTerror
New regime with a lot more draft capital. I'll bet they find some players.
That said, I agree with TW's take. They got a bunch of extra 2nds and 3rds, so using a 4th on a change of scenery player is fine.
Of course when I see Puljujarvi practicing on a fourth line, I don't have much faith Sully will unlock his potential. |

Very true. Plus as the vets get healthy any kids will be gone. Acari has been good but the rest need to go sooner than later.
In other news Carolina should be desperate for a goalie and Ottawa for a dman. Dubas better be calling. |
|

The key for the Penguins will be to trade our players to teams who undervalue draft picks and use that draft capital to trade for players, young or experienced, to teams who overvalue draft capital.
Much easier said than done, but using draft picks as lottery tickets doesnt seem prudent to me, especially outside the top 3 or 4 rounds. Use them to acquire undervalued players who are out of favor with their teams. |

The move is promising. It's very low risk. I think as we said previously that spending some picks and getting younger talent would be a great move to help sooner and later. |

@Tojo, "Yes, she pulled my hardy" tries too much, hence Sully sees him as a bottom-6 guy. |

I wonder if this trade sets a price for Beau on the trade markets as well.
A lot of talk that we were scouting Nashville and Montreal heavily. Wonder if we can snag a young Defender from Montreal. |

Great move by Dubas. We only have 9 bottom 6 forwards on the roster... Can never have too many of those guys.
Maybe we sit Gryz now and play a 4 forward 1 D system?
Im fine with the move itself, I don't think Tomasino is going to be a difference maker but a fine enough bottom 6 with upside at an inconsequential price.
Just don't understand why we even bother with this trade? Don't understand why we traded Nashville for Glass and Tomasino but didn't trade for Fabbro, a guy we could have actually used. |

Yeah I’d argue bottom 6 isn’t really our problem. There’s a giant hole at 1LW. Rust and bunting haven’t played anywhere near top 6 quality. And defense is a mess. But let’s get a 9th bottom 6 forward.
Hope there’s another move coming but I doubt it. |

Maillioux. 21 yo RD. Averaging over a PPG in the AHL and NHL combined, but obviously some issues with the org as they leave him in the minors.
I'm praying there is a Karlsson for Maillioux deal in the works and we are just scouting to see which of their bad contracts we want to take back in the deal.
Karlsson, McGroaty & a 2nd for Anderson and Maillioux. Let's go! |

I wasn't a fan of McCrotchy when he was at Michigan, it was a shame the Penguins gave up Yager to get him, but...
As a Flyer fan I am extremely happy they traded Yager, who I considered their best prospect since probably Crosby maybe. Not saying Yager is Crosby...just saying their best prospect since.

Yeah it's another Bemstrom type deal where Sullivan will probably be forced to use him a bunch in the bottom 6 then he will be a regular in WBS as soon as next year. I am hoping I am wrong and we can unlock his potential. I just don't see Sullivan playing any kids I over the veterans unless forced to. |

He’ll get 8 min a night playing with acciari, so no chance at even showing what he has. |

Same as ponaromov. 4th line isn’t either of their type of game. |

Cbus beat reporter noted dubas at the Cleveland monsters game last night. (Not against wbs) Seravelli also thinks Pittsburgh is one of the 5 or so teams attempting to get jiricek. Also believes deal to be done soon.
Wonder how dubas would screw the pooch on this? Trade Pickering or Brunicke? |

There really isn't much competition. Even our best prospects since then like Guentzel and Rust weren't highly touted (or Letang for that matter.) So sure I'd agree.
Hoping McGroarty is just having a rough couple months, and this isn't as bad as some have already pronounced it. But the Pens really can't give up on McGroarty to help a salary dump, which is what I originally responded to, because they don't have any forward prospects close to his upside. |

Baby pens coach says despite lack of production he has been playing very well. He has had many grade chances that just haven’t gone in. He expects Mcgroaty to be called up at some point this season and probably stick with the big club. |

If the plan is to trade and get young, that's great.... but Sullivan isnt the guy then. I dont believe you fire Sullivan for the hell of it, but if he is uncomfortable using a young roster, then why is he still here? |

Mostly I was just a fan of Yager as a prospect, Penguins just happen to draft him. I was also intrigued with Tanner Howe, but life without Bedard hasn't gone super well.

I don't think Sullivan will be around next season. Just a gut feeling. Whether he's fired or there's a mutual parting of ways, I'll be surprised if he's back. I honestly wonder if he has the guts for a complete rebuild. His teams have fallen flat on their faces for 6 years straight and the next 2 to 3 years could be even uglier than this season.
He's definitely not the guy for coaching a young squad.

Dubas made the trade and Dubas decides if the Baby Pens coach gets to keep his job. Of course he isn't going to sewer McGroaty, he is going to have a massively biased opinion because he is going to become the scapegoat of his bosses bad trade.
Hopefully McGroaty figures it out, but a top prospect should be able to get on the score sheet occasionally. Even Poulin who disappointed had some kind of a pulse in the AHL. |
