Yes, we are three points out of a playoff spot, but more importantly we're only one behind Boston. The gold standard for which teams strive to achieve. |

First time being able to watch in a while. I was impressed by Pickering. Solid play from what I saw |

Going off of what Matt said in the previous forum. I agree that if Dubas made a few better moves this offseason we would probably be looking from the opposite side of the playoffs race.
I think Dubas underestimated what it would take to get into the playoffs. Hopefully that is good news for if we plan to be aggressive this offseason. |

Trochek is also a much more competent hockey player than Malkin. |

Comparing Malkin to Trochek is like comparing Crosby to Giroux. No brainer here. |

Malkin has been and continues to be great reliable scoring depth. |

Not really. Giroux at one time was like a wish version of Crosby. They play comparable styles. Malkin and Trochek don’t play comparable styles. |

It's crazy that Florida, the only team that wins the right way, let Trocheck go. |

So who comes out for Glass? Other than Tomasino, there isn't an obvious young guy for Sully to bench now that Puljujarvi is a scratch.
They'll also have to figure on who to send down. My guess is St. Ivany since he doesn't need waivers. |

Its crazy that we are at the point of mourning that we are comparing the careers of Trocheck and Malkin... don't get me wrong, if we had signed Trocheck rather than the Rangers a couple years back we might be talking about a cup run and not rebuilding but this is going too far, even for me, |

They should start floating guys down that do need to pass waivers and hope someone gets picked up. I'd even send Glass down, having someone grab his $2.5M salary would be great. Why not send down Graves? No one is going to take him but maybe he'd actually start to get his poop together after 10-15 games in the minors?

Yes one of the greatest scoring depth centers of all time. However, the blemishes on his overall game are real. He’s not Crosby. |

My whole thing was sign Trochek to center a line with Malkin. Malkin scores more than Trochek, Trochek does everything else better than Malkin. |

Yeah if they signed him as 3C maybe, had they chosen Trocheck over Geno, we probably would have been drafting top 5 already.

I can't believe I am saying this, but I think it would be interesting to make a trade with the Blackhawks for Taylor Hall.
He has been a healthy scratch at times for them and hasn't played the role of helping out Bedard at all. But he could be an interesting guy to throw on the 3rd line and see if he can produce some offence for us.
Because I want to get rid of Hayes so bad (for next year), I'd totally do a Hall (1/2 ret) for Hayes and a 2nd. |

I would have been fully on board with that one also. You may be right, but Malkin is so much better at the most important thing that its a moot conversation.
If we had put the $5.5M into Trocheck instead of some of the other moves we made it would be a completely different dynamic to the team. |

Definitely. I can't imagine that choosing between Malkin and Trocheck could have ever been an option.

I have been wondering this. I also think Puljujarvi should be back in the lineup soon. I feel as though he has played pretty well, yet for some reason Sullivan doesn't like him. |
