The Ottawa Senators announced today the team has signed forward Ridly Greig to a four-year contract extension. The deal carries a $3.25 million AAV through the 2028-2029 season.

Okay term and AAV.

Too bad this came after one of the worst games of the season

Looking forward to seeing Stutzle - Pinto - Greig down the middle. I believe that this will be the mix going forward starting next year. I would like to see Norris paired with Stutzle to see how that goes.

I stopped watching the game after the second goal last night. The team was just completely off.

The team needs to get things turned around soon in order to stay competitive.

Kinda makes Norris redundant.

This is a little rich for me. I think 2.75m x 4 would've been fair. He isn't having the best season (maybe playing better now) but I also don't get the timing - do they have something else in mind?

He'll grow into it. If you get a 40 point (min) pest for 3.25, especially if he can play centre fulltime, that's a win.

The cap is supposed to go up, so it's not too bad. I'd say that's what he'd get with any other team.

Consistency would be nice. For us fans at least.

The really good games just highlight how bad the bad games are.

well that game, OTT follows a good win with a stinker and a half, that first goal by DAL is the epitome of why OTT sucks and will continue to suck, no aticipation, no hockey IQ, Montipalo, rather than continually back up alos right into Leevi should have step up to robertson were he could have either intercepted the pass or prevented robertson from shooting but no another opponent left all alone in the slot and surprise surprise its a goal ....

Well, it was a bad first period, but so far they've had a pretty good push back in the 2nd period. No team should let one bad goal derail an entire game, and they're slowly starting to learn how to regroup - even against a high-quality team like DAL. Making the playoffs isn't done by avoiding adversity, it's done by learning how to become resilient enough as a team to overcome it. They've still got work to do in that regard, but I would argue their resilience has come a long way since the DJ Smith era.

Overall a very well played game by the Sens IMO. First period was a slow start. I was surprised to see Merilainen in net for back to back games. I hope they just let it run as long as he holds a hot hand. However, each weekend in Jan is having back to back games for the Sens so I guess we'll have to see Forsberg at some point.

But here is a query. If Merilainen stays hot, and Ullmark eventually returns, what do the Sens do with Forsberg? Would any team claim Forsberg if he was put on waivers? I can't see anyone trading for him without Ottawa offering a sweetener.

On another point ..... how about the play of Norris this season. He is 2nd on the Sens for total hits (behind Brady), has a +50% in the faceoff dot, and is starting to put some points on the board. So far so good in his recovery.

Depends how many games Ullmark will play, since he's often split games as a starter.

Good question on Forsberg. Some team desperate for a goalie could take claim him if they get into injury trouble.

Also should consider Merilainen development, he could benefit more from more starts on Belleville, he's only performed in a small sample size and is quite young.

Norris bounce back has been huge so far since secondary scoring has been hit and miss. It's picked up a bit lately. Perron injury has had an effect there.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Levvi in the net.
Some how I thought we'd see Forsberg and Hamonic (on crutches) on the ice.

But a good come back win. Tough opponents. Back to back for both teams. Good entertainment (I was there). No DJ Prosper...thank god.

Levvi stays in the net until he faulters. Forsberg can be waived once Ullmark returns. My only concern there is that he and Linus are buddies. It's a little thing but sometimes it matters.

Norris' bounce back has basically filled in what you thought you might get from Perron and Amadio. Seeing as how Perron has been out all season, mostly beyond his control.....he should be like trading for him when he finally is back up to speed. I expect no trades honestly. We have no picks or prospects in the system to move even if we wanted to add. This IS the group. Get it done.
