Let’s give the new guy more than 3 games to determine if he should stick with the varsity.

If the thought is we’ll be playoff contenders by the deadline, Vesey Jones Lindgren Smith Uro should still be dealt. If we’re looking real good by then though (in a playoff spot and the season looks to be turned around) I think Smith becomes the exception that has to be kept unfortunately.

I see zero reason to deal Urho. He’s young and has some upside. Playing well right now

I have no issues with Urho, but if theres a way to upgrade at that position that its something we should consider.

First and foremost, I think Lindgren's time is up and I think in order to regain the Fox we had he needs a partner who can eat minutes and keep up. This is a trade I feel they need to make immediately. We have a month and a half til the deadline. You make that move, and then have 6 weeks to reevaluate.

Whats the overall impression of Schneider? Does he look like a top 4 defenseman or are we trying to speak into existence something that may not be reality?

Everything about this d corp screams it needs a new coach for it, like the D coordinator in football. Sometimes you just need a change there. Schneider has tools but maybe it’s not fulfilling because of Housley. Miller too. Like he isn’t getting the best out of any one of them really. Recently yes they’ve been better, but still they don’t provide enough offense at 5 on 5. And we blame the forwards constantly, but maybe it’s the d not helping enough

I know you agree with all that, just saying in general terms that he might be the issue over anything else. With individual players back there

Im not so much worried about the offense created by the defense, Im worried the defense isnt playing defense. Theyre slow, theyre clumsy, and up until recentlly the transition game through the neutral zone has been terrible (as it has been for a long time). Im just curious if the switch to the 1-3-1 formation was Lavy's call. Because if it is, then they need to fire Housley ASAP.

I've been asking for months why we ever got away from the 1-3-1. It wasn't broke, but they decided to "fix" it.
It is obviously the way this roster best plays transitionally.

The defenseman have bad gap control, out of position a ton and can’t break out of their zone. Add in the fact majority of the fwds don’t play defensive hockey you have a bottom 3 defensive team

This is what makes me curious because if he has as much value as some may think, maybe its beneficial for the team to trade him. Maybe you get a pending UFA in their late 20s and a 1st round pick for him.

He’s got all the tools and never stands out in a bad way. Doesn’t necessarily do anything amazing either but I think that’s acceptable from a defenseman. Personally think he should be given top 4 minutes. If Borgen is signed, it makes things a little more interesting. They’re pretty equal in my eyes but Schneider has a much higher ceiling.

I mean, who has his partners been? He’s never had a steady, good partner. I’ve never watched a game and been like, damn, Schneider sucks. He does what he’s supposed to do and has always had bad defensive partners. Pair him with a big physical shutdown lefty and I think he’s a top pair guy (pair that can shut down opposing teams top lines)

This is, could, be an issue also. When one guy is steady and picking up what he can and the partner is kind of a liability, tough to really reach peak. I really do wish they can do a full remodel of the left side of the D because Fox, Schneider, Borgen seems pretty solid for the right side.

Schneider is consistently avg. perfect number 5 dman. I just haven’t seen him do anything nightly where he pops off the screen as a top 4. Hes just very avg at most things. Nothing wrong with it. GMs overate him bc he’s a big Canadian. Could help us get a better return if they do move him

His partners have been Ben Harpur (currently in the AHL), Zac Jones who can’t find a team that wants him in a trade, and Erik Gustafsson who’s on his 9th team since the 2019-2020 season. Which one of them is a legit NHL partner?
