*The Boston Bruins are NOT a playoff team. If they get in, I'll be shocked. They are -25 goal differential. How their in the playoffs is crazy. It's very impressive than only the oilers and washington have been hotter than the Sens over the past 10 weeks

I think he is exactly what you guys need. He looks worse than he is on the Pens where we have maybe the worst goaltending in the league, the worst coach and far and away the softest forward group.

You guys need more scoring and Karlsson still has the offensive talent. Put him in a city he loves with a competitive team and he is going to light it up.

Either way, I'll be hoping you guys make it into the playoffs and do some damage.

EK is not worth a first.

The Spartacat thing is ridiculous. Part of the deal when selling the team was not to move the team, right? Why would people think they're moving? I don't get it.

I don’t understand this fanbase sometimes. The reaction to the Quebec City stuff was textbook overreaction. The Spartcat jersey was probably a bad call, but it didn’t hurt anyone. The Sens fanbase constantly is ridiculed for being small and outnumbered at games involving Canadian opponents. The organization works on trying to win over fans of a market with no hockey team and people lose their mind? Get out of here.

No one said boo to playing multiple regular season games in Europe but freak out over the possibility of playing regular season games in Quebec City. These folks need to pick their battles. I would rather have all Sens games in Ottawa but can definitely get on bored to the organization trying to expand their fanbase.

Bettman has tried to keep this team in Ottawa for too many years to approve a sale to an owner to move just move the team to a market Bettman has no interest returning to. That aint happening.

I agree. I didn't take it the wrong way as some people have. It's not like Spartacat lit his (Sens) jersey on fire to don a Nordique one.

Here's to hoping we get at least a point tonight vs the Caps! When's Ullmark due back anyway?

I had no problem with playing an occasional game in Quebec City (or Houston, or KC, or Atlanta .... where ever the NHL wants to go). It sure beats flying to Europe and playing a couple of games .... the time difference, etc just wreaks havoc on that team's schedule. So staying closer to home is fine. But we should probably be clear .... the odds of picking up a fanbase in QC is pretty marginal. Ottawa should concentrate on serving the Gatineau basin better. Another bridge at Aylmer area to Kanata would be great.
My issue was the jersey thing on Spartacat. You don't disrespect the team jersey and logo. Had Spartacat shown up with a Sens jersey and a QC/Nordiques flag .... everything would have been okay I think.

As for the new arena .... I am pretty much done with the BS coming from the NCC. Their fiefdom needs to end. I'd move on and let them keep Lebreton. The city has a few spots to look at. Or, even better ..... build a dedicated on/off ramp for the CTC and just build a new stadium next door to the existing one and tear down the old one. They already own the land. I'm not sure that a stadium downtown will offer much of a gameday experience anyways.

Good post. The more the downtown stuff drags on, the more you just have to say screw it and come up with another option. They developed everything around the existing stadium so poorly, if they just built another stadium nearby or some other part of the city, you could have a second crack at proper development and address the “it’s so far from everything” criticism right away.

I still think a downtown area is the best option but I don’t see much change with federally owned land until there is a change in federal leadership. Even then, it will be some time before any actual change is made.

The worst part of it all is that the organization and ownership are kind of handtied in terms of what they should do with the current building. Tough choices to make whether to invest in the current stadium when you don’t really know the timeline or end game of a possible new stadium.
