He's an RFA. He either extends with Buffalo or sits on the couch. Sabres have no urgency to trade him. If they do decide to move on they would far more likely explore that in the summer when 31 other teams have the cap and roster flexibility. Maybe sources didn't think about that?

Zero trades during the pre-deadline deadline day. I guess in the end, teams are probably going to talk, maybe even finalize some trades, but announce them later. Also gives buyers a bit more time to accrue deadline cap space.
