Stand pat.
Maybe Forsberg for futures and cap relief.

Excellent trade for the Sens to get Cozens. They gave very little, and Norris is very injury prone. Buffalo is so bad lol.

Buffalo is indeed the worst, but Cozens is actually a huge reason why. He's supposed to be a 1B center for this team and he is so bad he's barely a 3. It's two guys both making between 7-8 mil, both young and talented, and both not anywhere near worth their contracts.

Seems like whoever gets the guy who bounces back will win the trade.

Have you not watched hockey for 2 years? Cozens has been downright bad since Hathaway caved in his face 2 years ago. I mean bad. I can't believe they got back a guy like Norris, even if he has his own issue. Cozen put up 30 three years ago while playing in a system where nobody played any D. I hope he turns it around because he seems like a good kid. But don't kid yourself - Sabres fans are happy with this trade. That's how bad the last 2 years have been.

Even before he started to suck, he was already being talked about as being more suited for the wing because he doesn't appear to have the skills to play in his own end.

Ya.
Never a good thing when Sabres fans are happy to see this guy leave town. And who the hell is Dennis Gilbert?

Norris....was starting to show he wasn't a one trick pony (essentially one 30 goal season from the same spot on the power play)

The shoulder looks better, he was leading the team in hits and very good on the PK. Buffalo wins this trade.

We are actually a little sad to be losing Gilbert as he was born here. He is a no-nonsense 6-7 D that brings a lot of grit. That's the other area where Cozens disappointed - despite his nicknames and all of that, he really didn't play all that tough. And he had a habit of avoiding scrums when his teammates needed help (he did it again last night).

Interesting deal. Norris has his issues but Cozens needs a serious bounce back. I do like that Cozens is slightly cheaper and plays a little more of an all-around game. I am not sure the Sens wingers are strong enough to help Cozens bounce back offensively. Both overrated players due to their contract but it is nice that Cozens is healthy more often than not.

interesting that this was a deadline deal and not a summer one. Big top 6 forward change in the middle of a playoff push.

Cozens may actually end up at wing for the Sens. There was a lot of talk (from Lindy Ruff included) that he's not really cut out for the middle of the ice. He was moved to wing a fair bit this season (to be fair, his results have been as thoroughly average at wing as before).

It's just two very flawed but talented young players. But given the Sabres track record, Cozens probably scores 30 next year for the Sens lol.

This team deserves to be laughed at, but we don't have any problems scoring goals 5v5 (we are in the top 10). And that was with Cozens being a black hole offensively. Worse, his teammates had better numbers when not playing with him.

The potential move to wing was discussed because Cozens doesn't have the awareness to play center in his own end. He shouldn't play on your PP or PK.

Well Sabres fan.
I think you'd find most Sens fans want the best for Josh Norris. Great guy. And I hope he clicks with your group.
Also, I personally find the league a better place when the Sabres are kicking ass and in the thick of things. Great fans - but man you all....you've suffered enough!!! Amen for Josh Allen at least. That dude looks like a good human all around.

At least we won't have to hear "The work horse from Whitehorse" anymore...

Sabres are the worst managed team in pro sports, except for the Jets ! GMKA needs to go...He is awful.

Thanks man, it is appreciated. The funny thing is, if the team was even average on the PP or PK, we'd be right with the Sens right now because our 5v5 numbers are actually good. We need a new owner.

So injuries aside, what should Sabres fans expect from these guys? I've read that some of the criticism with Norris is that he is more of a perimeter guy, which the Sabres already have in spades.

can score 30+ easy if put in the right position, for example look at his goal VS CHI. was 2nd on sens in hits behind Brady, obviously his problem is health, his shoulder has been fine this season tho. should be a 30+ goal 50+ point Center if healthy. he is also good defensively.

IMO OTT loses this trade unless cozens pulls a reinhart/eichel/oreilly and improves once out of BUF.

I think the difference with those players is that they were good players when they were here. Eichel and Reinhart just continued to get better after leaving, but they were both already excellent here.

He has just continued to spiral downward over the last 2 years. At this point, he really doesn't do anything well. That fight that he lost to Hathaway did something to him because he has been a shadow of his former self since. I hope he figures it out.

Also.

The Sens have miss managed 3 defensive assets...in Tyler Klevin, JBD and Lassi Thompson. They should have seen WAY more playing time in the DJ Smith coaching era when the fans knew they'd be losers, we were sold on rebuild expectations...that's when you play the kids and get them some experience. Smith played veterans. The kid's confidence was shot. Kleven appears to have turned a corner, Lassi Thompson took his ball and went home and JBD has been healthy for 2 weeks and still can't get a sniff because the coach is obsessed with Hamonic.

You'll like JBD. He'll be ok.

if Norris stays healthy and Buf sets his up like the goal he scored vs CHI, Buf fans are going to love Norris. Not much of a playdriver tho, he is a scorer.

Norris can pop in goals but is one-dimensional. Not much of a set up guy. It will actually be cool to see him on PP with Thompson. Norris also has good one-timing ability. Norris has gotten better with face-offs and defensive play but there is also a lack of consistency. I think Sabres fans will be ok with him. He just might always be overpaid. He’s not an 8-million-dollar player.

JBD is ok. He’s a reasonable 5/6 guy. People think the Sens ruined him, but he was average in the AHL. Won’t wow you offensively and won’t dominate defensively. I think if you give him a steady partner on a regular basis, he can be serviceable.
