I thought since Roger's was released, he wouldn't count towards compensatory picks?

As for Sanders, if he's still there late 4th, I'd take a shot. Wouldn't stop me from taking anyone next year, but maybe you hit on the lottery aspect.

- Tojo.

Ewers is a demonstrably better prospect than Sanders or Howard. Taking Sanders over Ewers would be dumb.

EDIT: I also keep forgetting about McCord. Give me McCord over Sanders and Howard too though again, I’m not thinking about him until at least the 5th

Did the baby pens get pushed around? That’s what happens when you collect the same type of player over and over and over and over and over…….

The two-year training period is over for the POGM. Dubas came and tried, but all ACTIONS appear to be more of the same.
The defense at the NHL and apparently at the AHL level is all about offense.

A just out of college player for Lehigh Valley openly jabbed WB/S players claiming *their D didn’t want to play the hard game* and *team is made up of soft defensemen* and *like I said, they don't like to defend*… smack talk for sure.

But this NHL defense [coached by SILKY Sullivan and built by Kyle Dubas] is the same. It's about puck moving defensemen, pinching defensemen, built around SILKY's speed, an aggressive forecheck, and puck retrieval. Nothing else… for over a long time now. Way too long now.

This defense has more leaky pipes in it than a newly listed foreclosure home on the lower south side. I'm not claiming that our two goalies are super, however, the defense is so soft - it's hard to tell.

It has to be tough, mentally on both goalies. The defense is as pathetic as it can get. The smack talker could have claimed the same points about the big PENS.

Letang can play decent defense if someone would remove the pinching problem. Karlsson plays no defense by design (I think). Shea might play some defense - not enough of a sample size - maybe (?) Timmons too. Putting P-O Joseph on waivers was a good decision… taking him back wasn't. What did they think - that the Blues *learned him* something? Then, there is that statue… Graves... who doesn't look to be good at anything. Someone should be punished for that decision.

Any moves by Dubas have to address making this team more physical and that starts on defense. And if the coach doesn't get on board with that then Dubas should see if he can get anything in return for him.

Kind of like Edmonton. People keep female dogibg about their goalie but every goal is a grade A chance.

They play like matadors... waiving capes at charging bulls... Dubas should be shown the tape of undertalented Montreal evening-up the Wash CAPS in the last game.

Get a draft pick for SILKY while he can.

Tocchet or David Carle are ideal to me

David Carle is worth an interview. Forget bringing back the same retreads. The future is about a youth movement and development.

Now, will Malkin and Letang want to stay? What about EK65?

Big news. Despite Sully and Dubas both saying good things at the end of the season, but seemed to be hedging their bets. Guessing the Rangers job opening materially changed things.

Surprised we didnt try to trade him to the Rangers, but could also see the Penguins not wanting to stand in his way given his contributions to the organization.

Pretty amazing run. He went from an unhired assistant coach, to coach of the Baby Penguins, to back-to-back Cup winner.

My first thought was Tocchet, but I think Dubas will follow the FSG model and look for someone more data oriented. Carle is an interesting name given his track record with young players, but if you hire him, are you punting on competing in the Crosby era? A first time head coach i dont think is going to turn this team into a competitive cup team in a year or two.

I think Karlsson was always going to be a casualty this offseason. No reason to keep him, retain a few million and send him somewhere that needs him.

Apparently, Sullivan dogged EK all the time for his inconsistent effort.....according to DK.

Local guy - Adam Crowley said FSG met with Sully in the last day or so and Sully had a "list of non-negotiable demands"

No idea what that means, but sounds like it wasnt as mutual as I thought.
