Silly conspiracy theory.

That said, I hope our vets respond positively to a different voice.
I hope the PP makes considerable improvement over last year (shouldn't be too difficult a task).
I hope our kids develop nicely and soon become productive fixtures going forward.

And I hope we're good enough next year to avoid any chance whatsoever to draft McKenna.

They didn’t win the lottery to get JvR. They fell a spot.
Flyers had the worst record in 06/07. The Blackhawks won the lottery and jumped in front to get Kane.

The percentages were way different then, too. The worst record had a far better shot at #1 than they do today.
