If Q was still coaching the Panthers, Kane would be a no-brainer. But, I just don't see Patrick Kane being a board-battle star under PoMo.

Go Panthers!

But does he have to be? He's been on several rosters that have been successful. I think the Panthers have plenty of "board battlers", no? His whole game is being elusive and skilled enough to not need to do that. Sure, it's important to be able to get the puck back in situations, but I'd say he'd be a great asset to almost any team expected to be in the playoffs. He was pretty good on one leg last year (not great, but still produced). All updates thus far have been positive, and if he can play pain free, He's got a ton to offer.

He will wait until the trade deadline to sign and then weigh the chance to win a cup and get the most money possible. Money will of course be trump.

“While Florida is pressed against the cap, injuries to Ekblad and Montour may open the LTIR door for them to spend some money on someone…”
But Montour and Ekblad will be back in November/December, then the LTIR cap room disappears. I’m not positive, but I think they’ll be over the cap when both are back from injury.
Maybe at the trade deadline, if Kane isn’t already signed elsewhere. Having a sniper like Kane for a playoff run certainly wouldn’t hurt.
I’ll leave it all up to Billy the Wizard....

Maurice says Samoskevich will play on the left side of a line with Bennett and Tkachuk tonight vs. the Lightning:
“The idea will be to see how comfortable he is on both sides of the ice because you have different opportunities with different lines. He’s had a good camp.”

Knight goes to be the starter in Charlotte. Stolarz back up for Bob, avoids having to waive Stolarz, with TB w/o Vasi for 2 months they probably would’ve snagged him.

Denisenko on waivers today to be sent to Charlotte.
Looks like Samoskevich will at least start the season with the Panthers
Bennett left the game with an injury last night.
