Jack is literally the best hockey player the world has ever seen.

I'm not worried or anything(yet) but Mercer really needs to find his game and get going. He's been killing whichever line he's been apart of and he has been by far our worst forward. He's certainly been a streaky player to start his career, so hopefully he's able to catch a little fire for a stretch and gain some confidence. He's gotta be effective for us to actually have that formidable top 9 that we all know we can have when playing our best.

Eventually secondary scoring has to show up. I know Palat got robbed, but 0 goals for Mercer, Palat, and especially Meier is pretty concerning. Can't rely on the top line to carry you every night. They'll eventually burn out

On the bright side, besides Jack being a magician offensively, I'm loving his defensive game a lot! His backchecking is pretty phenomenal

It's Fitz and ruffs plan to lower mercers next contract

While Meier hasn't scored he has looked much better the last couple games and he has has a couple of assists but he also created at least 1 goal last night where it didn't show up on the stat line but without that play devils don't score

Also this team can't score on a breakaway. Defense and goaltending both been bad but also seem like the caps had alot of odd man rushes.

Yeah I cant really blame the forwards. Even without massive secondary scoring we're still scoring 4 goals a game. That should be good enough to win. Our goalies gave up 5 goals on under 2 expected goals. It's just not good enough, thats the difference. They(mostly Schmid) flat out lost the game tonight.

Definitely, its been ugly. Bad turnovers. Awful breakouts. Marino and Siegs in particular have not been great for what we expect from them. But 4 goals were very stoppable shots. Caps had no business scoring as much as they did.

Goaltending is this teams' achilles heel, and unless a move is made its going to stay that way all year. Schmid should be in the AHL.

If it stays this inconsistent i expect them to try and make a move at the deadline. Their offense and Jack along with occasional good stretches here and there in net will keep them a playoff team, but if they want to take the next step they’ll need an upgrade in net. I’m not against seeing how it plays out and if one of then can develop and run with the starting job, but I just don’t see it. You can’t count on either one. Guess we’ll see what happens.

The problem is who you getting that is potentially available before trade deadline? Helly is committed to subzero temps at lunch time.
