I know the options look bleak. However, IMO, I think Lou will do something at the draft. I think that is the best area for improvement. Highly unlikely we see anything, but our own players resigned at free agency.
Running back the same team with a different coach (Roy) would be an absolute mistake. |

If the Islanders are able to move salary. I think the trades will have them retaining portions of the contract. While that would not get any kind of decent return, it would expand cap to potentially sign a better player replacement. Moving forward team needs to stick with 1-, 3- or 5-year deals. |

I believe he’ll do something but I don’t think it will be major. He would have to unload Nelson and Palmieri while hoping to replace their production. Everyone else is unmovable locked up to long term contracts save for maybe Pageau. I know we discuss trading him a lot on here but I don’t think there are to many teams that would be all that interested with his current production, salary, along with the extra year on his contract.
There very well could be something unexpected that will facilitate Lou pulling a rabbit out of a hat but to count on that seems unrealistic. You never know wouldn’t be the first time he surprised me with something… |

Depends who they're retaining money on. Telling a team that thinks they're a player or two away from being a true Cup contender that they can have Brock Nelson at $3M for a full season would be worth quite a haul. |

That is what drives me crazy with this organization, the owner do nothing . They keep Lou in charge for this many years and they have to see he is the reason our prospect pool is lat in the league , got old players signed for this crazy contracts..
It is not working but the owners just leave him in charge, other teams make changes right away . |

You would think the owners want more than two home playoff games with a new building. I'm just not sure how fans will react if it ends up being more of the same roster.

Boston would probably give the Isles quite a bit for Brock because I’d think they’d be all in kind of still next year |

Doesn’t really matter how the fans will react that’s more then likely what it will be. |

No crying poverty by the owners then if the attendance is not great.

Or traffic. Islanders did not get enough attention when they were a dynasty. What do they think is going to happen when they are an average team in 2024? I think Islander fans will support a younger team that still has Barzal, Bo, Dobson, and Sorokin. An older and slower type team will be a problem and especially one in NY. |

You should trade Pulock to Leafs for a younger RHD (Liljegren), a young 🇺🇸 scorer (Robertson) and prospect (Voit/Steeves)
Opens up cap space as well 👍 |

interesting. is liljegren a legit puck mover? isles badly need defensemen that can carry into the zone. losing nick leddy significantly weakened them |

Leddy and Toews were huge in being able to skate the puck out of trouble.

Yes
Lots of untapped potential
He did well when subbing in for Rielly on PP. Has not been utilized properly here

Now all you have to do is convince a guy who has lived on Long Island his whole career to waive his full NTC |

Strange
Your fans just said they need:
1) puck movers
2) cap space
This achieves both and gets you a good, young, cheap scorer |
