19 left a bad taste in my mouth. He's done nothing with his last contract which was an albatross. Mystery illnesses, weird nutrition habits, long Covid or whatever this last thing is, all kinds of absences... Granted some or most of this wasn't his fault... But the arc he was on by 2015 was special. I think he is still a HoF based on his first 7 years, but the arc ceased to be by 2016-2017. |

First Chicago poster....
There was a time you would have taken Toews over Kane if you could only have one. |

Chara was on that list as well and I didn't agree with that. Way too many goalies as well. |

Until his body betrayed him that was the correct decision if you could only have one. |

It's hard to separate the player from team accomplishments. Hockey is one of the most team oriented sports in terms of success. One guy can't really do it all.
While he was certainly a major, if not main ingredient in the gold medals/SC's that's still a team award. If you look at the individual accomplishments (and include some of the intangibles of his character), I think you rank him tied with Bergeron, or maybe a rung above. |

I have a huge issue with Quick being on the list considering one of his accomplishments was career win leader.... among US born goaltenders. Who gives a flying poop about where a guy was born. They all play in the same league.
I have no logical reason for it, but Thornton being on the list bugs me too. |

Amazing two-way forward (Toews) who unfortunately played in an era where Datsyuk and Bergeron existed. |

I didn't even know Thornton played for the Panthers. The jersey choice would be a minor thing, but contextually it goes shows how little ESPN understands hockey. |

Toews definitely should have been included and he will be a first ballot HoF for sure. Honestly he should be ahead of Bergeron and definitely Kopitar. |

It's kinda weird because it was always a Toews vs Crosby debate from like 2008 - 2015.
Just because his career was sandbagged by something medical shouldn't discount the 10 years of dominant 2 way play. |

The only player I would put Toews ahead of is Fleury. All the centers on the list had/will have better careers. Toews had a very high peak but longevity wasn't impressive. |

I never did understand the Lundqvist love, about as overrated as you can get. Corey Crawford has same numbers along with two cups. The only good thing about ESPN is that I get out of market games, otherwise, they’re worthless.

Crawford was a bit of a vicitm of playing on some really good teams that minimized his contributions.
I think in seasons after 2016 he changed the minds of some Hawk fans who felt he was merely the benefactor of playing behind a great defense on those Cup teams.
Others were too dim/stubborn to ever acknowledge it but boy was he ever under - appreciated outside of Chicago.

Same reason Toews isn't on the list. Total numbers is critically important in comparing careers. Lundqvist played in 1017 career games while Crawford only played in 577. I think Crawford is underrated, but no comparison on who had the more impressive career. |

I have a problem with Letang not being on this list. They have Crosby, Malkin, and Fleury. Letang should be there. We all know who the most dominant team of the 2008-2020 era was and it wasn't Chicago. |

The guy with two cups? Longevity reminds me of participation trophies. |
