I think Lohrei should get a shot on the top PP. Bring some youth to the powerplay and Lohrei is pretty solid at moving along the blue line. Could offer some new looks because of his length.

Yeah, had hoped to build on the comeback (granted, against a bad team) but no joy. This is the worst I can recall in a pretty long time.

This team has given up.

Though can't lay all blame on Swayman, he is NOT playing up to his new contract.
GAA above 3 (3.35) and SV% < 900.
That's mediocre at best.

And FFS, Zadorov needs to sit a game or two. He takes way too many penalties.

Yep. No team is going to win with those numbers. It's also true that no team is going to win every game when they hang their goalies out to dry every game and expect them to steal games every time. The defensive game is far worse than it was last year.

Swayman is not the sole problem.

Its an interesting trend, but it seems almost every game there are moments that they have built up momentum, then subsequently take a stupid penalty (Zads the culprit most of the time).

Special teams are just ICK right now. Whatever defensive structure they switched to under Leach is clearly not working. Not getting blocks, screening their own goalie and not clearing the front of the net. The entire system is broken at the moment and there is no confidence. You can just feel that they dont look forward to playing games.

Swayman to me looks like he is trying to be too perfect. I think he plays scared of giving up a goal because he knows the team in front of him likely wont be able to recover. I dont think this is a "he got paid and now he sucks" kind of thing. I think this is very much Swayman trying to be too perfect and not playing his natural game.

Lets not just lump Elias in with Zadorov. Elias has been fine.
He has hardly been a problem and would be WAY down on the list of issues with this team right now.

Last night was on Swayman. He was a monstrous momentum killer. The Bruins probably deserved a better outcome but Elvis made the saves that Swayman couldn't.

There is also just a general lack of creativity with this team and that stems from having zero confidence. They need a LONG road trip to get the hell out of Boston.

I do still think they will right the ship and get back to playing good hockey but Swayman may have got Monty fired last night.

If that's the case, he needs to get his head right. And soon.

Just what I see. I could be wrong. We saw glimpses of his old game when he got his shutout a few games back. Hard to keep that confidence with how the team is playing as a whole right now.
