OTT PP is going to get worst as teams adjust, OTT don't shoot for the point an they not for some retarded reason they not doing the Norris in the circle shot thing like they did when he scored 35 in 66 games, they keep going for the finesse goal...

OTT D dont shoot the puck on net, you have Sanderson and Chabot and have 2 goals between them...shoot the dam puck from the point more ffs.

it is clear that the coaching staff sucks, especially in term of defense and despite the early success of the PP the PP is becoming predictable.

on Defense they turtle up which is very bad to do, they concede the shot and it leads to goals and can lead to injuries, good teams are passive on defense, they put pressure on the puck holder which leads to turn overs ect, while OTT lets the other team shoot, hope they dont score, hope they can get the puck and hope they not too tired to go on offense. many times the sens are running around their zone like headless chickens not know what they are doing then bam the other team scores.

its is like they have zero hockey IQ, no anticipation, very weak ass clearing attempts, players standing around doing nothing not covering a opponent player not looking around and opponents gets clear run at sens net which leads many times to goals, sens most likely lead the league in allowing opponent to be wide open in the slot..so many time goals against come from opponent left alone in front of sens net...

it takes some dam good skills to make a vezina winner and who is considered one of the best Gs in the league look like a peewee G.

I was at the game and I was surprised that Sens looked as fresh as they did - B2B and 3 in 4 …

Brady is beyond ridiculous good… so is Timmy S …

I was pleasantly surprised by our PP - looked ok.. a low bar to be sure.. but still.

We need Leo back bad…

An excellent piece on what is right and wrong with this team.

Stutzle has been a beast this year and Tkachuk has been a rock with consistently solid or better performances. Batherson has been great offensively and better at playing a 200 foot game. Chabot and Jensen continue to provide plus defending and are the only D pairing that inspires confidence. Ullmark seems to be finding his game. And Gaudette has been spectacular.

Secondary 5 on 5 offence has disappeared and has to a top coaching priority. A shuffling of the second and third lines needs to happen.

Both Sanderson and Kleven have been very mistake prone in recent games. Hopefully that can get things back on track before too long. JBD and Hamonic have both played better this year but having Hamonic in the top 2 D pairs is not a great situation.

Assuming they don't right this ship, would giroux waive his NTC at the deadline? Should they trade him, or maybe re sign hom if he was open. There's not much there to replace him.

Gaudette would be at the end of his deal too.

Giroux has slowed a bit since his first year with the Senators, having declined from 35G-79Pts to a projected 21G-58Pts this year. But he's still a high-value second line veteran for this team, and if he wants to stay in Ottawa I'm sure they'll make it happen. That said, it's certainly possible that he'll consider a trade-deadline move if the Senators are out of playoff contention in Jan/Feb.

Regardless, his next deal won't be $6.5M AAV, but it could well land in the $4.5M-$5.0M range if there's a bit of term attached.

Klevin and JBD back together....lets hope they can find the chemistry they had a month ago when the coach inexplicably separated them.

Of course with tonight being a ceremony night against struggling goalie with weak numbers I expect a 5-0 shutout for a Detroit team who actually play in a pizza themed arena.

Good to see that Ullmark's game is rounding into form. Third solid outing in a row.

Chabot - Jensen continue to look very good and there were fewer mistakes from the other two pairings.

The number one issue at the moment is that the offense needs more contributors, especially at 5 on 5. Number two issue would be the lack of a suitable top 4 partner for Sanderson but that would require a trade to fix.

The team needs to take advantage of an easier home schedule here to get back above 0.500 to stay relevant.
