Wouldn't it be easier for Ek to list who the CBJ isn't a potential buyer for ??

Don't have long, but 2 points:

1. There is still nobody on that list that is a good fit for Columbus. Young players on list are marginal b/on stats for this season, older players are overpaid and it is hard to see any of them pushing the team over the top.

2. Why would media put any team names in the Eastern Conference as possible trade partners for Provorov? GMDW is never going to trade an asset like him with teams above the CBJ in the standings, so why even put him on the list?

Personally, I deeply believe Provorov will extend. But, he hasn’t signed. Speculation has ran about him all season. Teams will be interested and reported until then. It’s a wait and see on him and Olivier

If Provorov and GMDW can't come to an contract agreement before the TDL then he'll be moved for a 1st rndr ++. That would give us three 1sts for DW to play with.

IMO Provorov would be a good fit for this team. But he'll probably want something like 8x8, which I'm not sure is good spending.
Compare to the contract Marcus Pettersson just signed with Vancouver. He's a top-4, 28 y.o., left-shooting defenseman. Signed for $5.5MM @ 6 yrs.
I realize it's below Provorov's current contract ($6.75 AAV) - so I feel $7.5 @ 6yrs is do-able and fair. I could go to $8MM for 6 yrs - tops.
