I am expecting a surprise at the TDL.

Just a gut feeling.

But I would not be surprised of 3 of those guys get traded or resigned.

Dvorak will be left to walk.

I think Evans gets them a 2nd round pick (most likely in the 2nd half of the 2nd round) AND a B prospect, Habs might also have to take a contract back to even out salaries

tks Hugo, agreed on pretty much everything.
except maybe Dvorak. if he was a winger sure, but centers come at a premium at this time of the year, even when overpaid.

Do they take/want the 5th or 6th round pick, or if they trade Evans, keep him around to fill in on the PK and shore up whomever takes over Evans spot (either a rookie or if Newhook moves down).

Also...Habs have only one salary retention slot left before July 1st. HuGo have showed in the past their need to keep one retention slot for the draft to facilitate a trade if needed. Will they use it this year at the TDL or keep it for the draft....

This will impact their capacity to move Dvo or Savard IMO

If they wait for the draft, they might lose some leverage with the cap going up.

Excellent point!

There's always the possibility of involving a third team in all this, but considering the expected return for Dvorak, what's the point?

Habs: I will trade you Dvo for a 5th

Other team: Retain 50% and we a have a deal

Habs call 3rd team: How much do you want to retain 50% of Dvo's contract as the 3rd wheel?

3rd team: Give me a 3rd

Habs: (frank) you all...I am keeping Dvo

It might be my bias towards him, but I simply cannot imagine a team looking at Dvorak right now thinking "Yup, that's the guy we need" or "That's an upgrade!" over what they currently have as a team contending for a cup.

I think they will get a better return for Evans then for Armia IMO

Center and lower salary, also much more constant in his effort

Those two are actually pretty good playing together, anyway to package them for a 1st and a prospect?

noy sure it is an issue to keep the slot.

You can go 10% over the cap int he off-season, and I am not sure who they would retain money on to make a trade at the draft.

If a good deal is to be made at the TDL, they will use the slot if needed.

And I doubt it will be used to facilitate a trade between 2 other teams... Habs will likely be looking to deal picks again this year, not bank more 3+ round picks.

You may find a team that gets an injury and needs a guy for a month or so to fill in, Dvorak might be interesting, as he would come cheap.

That is the only way I see he gets traded.

Once Armia, savard, Evans and Dvo are traded....this should help the Habs......draft position

They will be in the top 10.

The lottery gods will determine where.
