I think I'm seeing my new Edvinsson bobble head go up in value ! So that's good news.
Agree 100% wanting to see either of Tuomisto or Wallinder play in Detroit for a few games this season. They're ready. The playoff experience they'll get in GR this year will be really good for them and the rest of the Griffins who just won again last night against a very good Texas Stars team. Griffins are getting their scoring mojo back. Danielson is really heating up (another goal last night). Lombardi hasn't skipped a beat since he came back from injury and Mazur is scoring too... hence they're starting to win again. Not having Husso in GR will also help get Cossa more starts. Campbell is the official back up now.
Not seeing any potential trades with Philly or Nashville that would be great for Detroit. Don't want any more veteran placeholders. We have the cap space to make an impact trade.. IF and only if we get a deal that's just too good to pass up. I doubt that will happen. Wings will be a much deeper team next season with their best prospects taking jobs in Detroit.
People who said the rebuild was a failure and that Yzerman screwed up all their draft picks didn't know what they were talking about. I didn't like some of the free agent signings (Holl, Copp, etc..). But the draft picks are starting to look really good... and the prospect pool hasn't been this stacked in at least 12+ years. Still really want to see Buchelnikov come over here and play. He's an intriguing prospect who can create his own time and space with his skating and offensive skill. |

Love to see yzerman unload a D to the NYR, since they are desperate. Future considerations are fine for comp. Would love to see AT come up and do well.
We all have zero clue with what Yzerman might do. The guy is a mystery. Would love to see a hockey trade work out both ways for two teams if he does trade. I highly doubt he’d trade draft capital at this point unless it’s a coveted asset in return. Debrincat as an example. The more I watch him, the more I love him. |

If I’m counting right, Danielson has 3 goals over his last 4 games. For Buchelnikov, he does bring the intrigue for sure. I saw frustration that more kids weren’t ready at 19, but the development seems to be paying dividends in terms of building that pipeline. In my thinking, unless there’s a player 26/27 or so that has a lot left on the tires no reason to make a deal unless they can move out a veteran contract. I think GMs had high asks but as the deadline draws nearer there will be some deals. Don’t buy just to buy. Would love to be in the morning meetings and hear what’s being discussed |

The very (very) few press people I’ve interacted with concur. Deals come out of nowhere. Debrincat seems a lot more comfortable. For a deal it’s tough to see something coming together unless a player wants to be moved or a team wants something for an upcoming UFA that won’t commit |

If Y buys in the next few days, there is not much chance that he calls anyone up unless there are more injuries. I think he gets a scoring forward and a depth D, so he can play Holl less. |

That’s why I’m hoping he does a callup tryout first. Unless they’ve had something in the works that is about to come to fruition, new names seem to hit the “market” each day. My hope is that if he does go for a D it’s a top 4 minute muncher. Honestly haven’t heard anything that’s on the verge but that’s not a shock. Rarely hear anything before it happens or is just about to happen. |

I know they are old, but Ryan O'Reilly and Luke Schenn would certainly fit the Wings needs.
Others keep bringing up Petey, but I think he is hurting. Best stay away. |

Bringing in any rentals or older veterans makes absolutely no sense when you consider the young talent in GR. We've got both forwards and defensemen who are certainly good enough for a stint/audition in Detroit. Only way a trade is worthwhile is if it's a young and talented impact player and it doesn't cost us any of our valuable prospects ready for the NHL. Time for the youth movement to start is NOW... let the kids play. Will be glad when we shed some of the mediocre UFA's at the end of the season. They are replaceable from within.
Would love to see Lombardi on the third line with Soderblom and Berggren in Detroit. That would be interesting. |

Lombardi came out of the gate strong, coach Watson was impressed. I’d love to see what he can do on the 2nd power play. I agree on veterans at this point. I really hope they’re considering a callup/tryout before a deal unless it’s someone too good to pass on for a reasonable cost. We’ll see what they do, but especially those D we’ve been talking about. No reason not to give them a look in Wallinder and Tuomisto |

Y wants to achieve that goal and keep the core in GR for their playoff hopes. Adding a couple vets is what is called for here. Bringing up a bunch of rookies is not what will get them in the playoffs. THE YOUTH HAVE THEIR OWN TEAM TO WORRY ABOUT RATHER THAN THE FUTURE WITH THE WINGS. it will come in due time.

I just disagree, especially when we’re talking about depth players in terms of just getting in. Getting in is going to rely heavily on the goalies down the stretch and the scoring. Kane has 3 cups and is helping that line, getting in is going to be rough regardless. Nashville bet heavily on spending a lot on successful vets. Not a great return. Everyone wants to see the team get in, but not even looking at internal options makes zero sense before the deadline. Kasper is helping the top line, and the goalies have to play out of their mind to get there. Just my opinion, of course. |

And every key piece staying healthy for the run. Can't have Larkin taking risks battling it out with a guy like Middleton risking an injury, saw what happens last year with a 3C filling in on the top line. |

For sure. Seems like a slew of surgeries were just announced. Of course Copp is out w/torn pec repair. That line of how hard to go and when is a big deal. Sometimes it’s ok to let someone else sort it out for you |

The Wings need some young talent and young energy to get them into the playoffs. The whole reason Grand Rapids exists is to develop talent for Detroit. The Griffins will take care of themselves and their own playoff run (they have the depth). The Wings need and should give the best prospects some ice time in Detroit and go from there. Case in point: Soderblom and Johansson. Letting the young talent sit in GR and get over "ripe" is dinosaur GM mentality (i.e. Ken Holland). The time is now. |

Oliver Whalstrom is on waivers. Anyone have a read on that guy? He was a high draft pick. |

Haha. Love it. At my age, taking a dump is a pleasurable thing though! |

He was one of the highest scoring juniors of his class and I believe entered junior at 15 on a special "waiver" (not the right word). Veleno also entered Jr early. These young phenoms don't always progress the way ya think they should.

2 years ago Ottawa finished Detroit when they were in a playoff spot with 2 back to back wins. Now we have Columbus. Does this team have the fortitude and heart when it really matters. These 2 games will really show us what this team is made of. |
