Rudy Guimond (19 yo 6th rd pick in 2023) was named one of the CHL’s players of the week. He posted an impressive .960 SV% over the last couple of games. Even more impressive for Guimond, he has a perfect 15-0-0 record this season with the QMJHL’s Moncton Wildcats. Moncton is the number one team in the CHL. Pretty cool.
Gonna be over-loaded with goalies in a few years!

I look at this team... and then I look at Ottawa... Cozens has 7 points in his last 8 games. Just makes me want to puke. Wings just don't have the same combination of grit and skill Ottawa has right now... who is harder to play against than Detroit. Detroit's penalty kill.. man it has been crap all year and cost them games.

On a brighter note the Western Michigan University Bronco hockey team is rated #3 in the nation. My Alma Mater team. Hoping they can go far in the NCAA tournament. This is probably the best team they've ever had. Fun memories going to games when I was in school there. They really have a great hockey program now.

Wings did not have a suitable trade for Cozens, they got what they wanted from the Sens. It is good to see Cozens get out of Buffalo and do well.

Just a thing of interest about another player that floundered in the NHL and made good elsewhere:
Josh Leivo, now 31, playing for Salavat Yulaev Ufa in the KHL, Leivo just shattered the league’s single-season goal record, netting 49 goals in 62 games, surpassing the long-standing mark of 48 set by Sergei Mozyakin in 2016-17. He also chipped in 31 assists for 80 points, leading the league in scoring.
He may wish to come back, NHL general managers are reportedly circling. Players with his size, hands, and now record-setting pedigree don’t often resurface with this kind of momentum.
As one league executive put it, “You can’t ignore what he just did over there. That kind of goal scoring translates.” A return to the NHL — once improbable — now feels inevitable. This may get him a top 6 spot over here.
Let's see what he does in the KHL playoffs and then decide.

I was saying from the get-go an Ottawa trade was not a good fit for Detroit. Wings were not going to give up a top talent roster player. We all knew that. What is frustrating is the Wings still do not have a true 2nd line center. Kasper may be the answer... but we'll see. This team is still way too thin up the middle... until Yzerman addresses that this team will not be a playoff contender. Gotta be able to roll 4 lines to make a deep playoff run.... and this team is probably still several years away from that.
