I know everyone is going to comment on this situation with stating what they would do, but what I think the Rangers will do is sign him and have him here for the last 8 games.

I 100% believe that’s happening

agree w/ you jan, and with what jimmy said

just get a deal done and burn that first year. in the grand scheme of things it really doesnt matter too much. they hit an absolute home run on a late first round pick, dont (frank) around. sign him, and play him as much as possible

like 1124 said...if the kid is good and makes the team better the money is happening either way...if he takes time to adjust the bridge deal is economical...if he blows...it don't matter.

So we’re looking at

Laf Miller Cuylle
Panarin Trocheck Perrault
Othmann Zib Berard
Kreider Carrick JBrod

Kreider needs either be the 4th line or press box

I think it’s a bit of overkill with Panarin and Perreault on the same line. Flip him with cuylle or Othmann

is he signs, kreider has to be moth balled until next year. assess in the summer at the draft where he is w/ his injuries and make the decision then.

The fact some of you are willing to burn a year off the ELC for a lost season is puzzling.

then what's your other option?

Out of the 3 jan presented; i think 2 is off the table. no way he does an ATO in hartford. while it might be beneficial to his game, and the long term plan of the franchise i dont think he/his agent will do it.

that leaves 3, and i dont want him back in school. just kicks the can down the road.

Tell me you actually care about what happens 3 years from now. I can't make myself do it. We need something to be excited about

Being that I will be watching the Rangers 3 years from now, yes I care about 3 years from now. What about this team has given you confidence we can win a 7 game series against a playoff team, when we can’t even beat a playoff team during the regular season 😂😂

We suck. We shouldn't make the playoffs. This is a separate thought for me. I want him to play.

Play out a scenario for me where burning a year off his ELC changes the trajectory of the franchise in such a negative way that the impact is felt for years to come

The point of burning the ELC is that it’s possible Perreault is willing to sign now by accelerating the kickstart of what would be his second deal. That’s more likely of a scenario than them signing him for a late season run. Both are possible, the first is more likely

IF (and likely a big if) NYR make the playoffs, do you think immediate playoff experience/exposure could be a good thing for Gabe?

I also think that if Igor plays lights out in the playoffs, we can beat anyone. I may sound crazy for saying this, but Washington doesnt scare me much. I think NYR would go into that series with a little confidence

I think it’s a good gesture by the team who needs some good PR with their draft picks. We bailed on Kakko, Kravtsov, Lias, etc for a various reasons, so let’s give one of them a signing bonus sorta speak[/img]
